    Malaysia Map

Devi from this board had share this beautiful brief introduction of Malaysia

    Hi Sonu,

In Malaysia there is 14 states. The main is Wilayah Persekutuan - Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Melaka, Kedah, Perlis, Pulau Pinang, Negeri Sembilan, Kelantan, Pahang, Johor, Sabah, Sarawak, Perak and Terengganu.

    Malaysia Map

    http://www.talkmalaysia.com/images/...alaysia-map.jpg

Geographically located at southeastern Asia, Malaysia is considered as one of the largest multi-cultural countries in South East Asia. With an area stretching over more than 300,000 square kilometers, Malaysia is made up from 13 states (Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Terengganu, and Selangor) and 3 federal territories (Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya). Within all of these 16 states or federal territories, Kuala Lumpur is the capital state in Malaysia where most of the major economy activities take place everyday. In addition to that, 2 of the famous landmark in the capital state of Malaysia are the Petronas Twin Tower and the Kuala Lumpur Tower (Menara Kuala Lumpur).

Actually, Malaysia is divided into 2 continents which are the Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia in Borneo. For Peninsular Malaysia, the 13 states which are situated there are Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Terengganu, Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. On the other hand, as for East Malaysia, 3 of the states which are Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan are situated there. For Malaysia, some of the neighbouring countries which are situated nearby to Malaysia are non-other than Brunei, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.

The terrain in both Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia are mostly costal plains rising to become hills and mountains, therefore, it is a common sight in Malaysia where many visible mountains and hills are lying all around the states in Malaysia. In addition to that, due to the fact where the climate in Malaysia is tropical weather, Malaysia is considerably warm and moist throughout the year compared to some other countries like Europe where they have different 4 seasons in a year.

Fortunately, Malaysia is lucky enough to be free from major natural disasters such as tornado or earthquake, however, Malaysia still falls victim to some natural disaster like landslide and flood due to the reason where the difference between the higher ground and lower ground is quite large and moreover, land slide happens more often in Malaysia because most of the locations in Malaysia are surrounded by mountains and hills. In addition to that, due to the sole reason where Malaysia is a warm country, sometimes forest fires may occur if the weather is too hot.

Last but not least, Malaysia is always one of the most favoured countries among foreign travelers and visitors because Malaysia has a large variety of ethnic groups and a very warm and sunny weather throughout the year..

In Malaysia, there is alot of Malay, Indian, Chinese, Christian and some other different races ....

    Famous Langkawi Island

    Langkawi[IMG]

Sea meets the Strait of Malacca, Langkawi Island positions itself paradise destinations in Tourism Board has dedicated itself to promoting the island andideal travel spot. Now, after a island has proven itself as one of

Where the beautiful Andaman as one of the best emerging island region. Since 1990, the Malaysian developing it as an decade and a half of work, the this country's holiday gems.
Its biggest competition comes from Phuket, Thailand's beach-lover fantasy to the north. However, Langkawi was far luckier than Phuket when the tsunami struck the shore in December 2004. Although Phuket suffered massive casualties and collateral damage, Langkawi only reported one casualty, and while most of Langkawi's beach resorts did suffer water damage, it didn't take long for them all to make necessary repairs and get up and running again.

This small island also claims a Hollywood credit, starring in the 1999 film Anna and the King. Langkawi played the role of Thailand to Jodie Foster's Anna Leonowens and Chow Yun-Fat's King Mongkut (Rama IV). The Thais wouldn't allow the filmmakers to shoot on location in their kingdom, so Hollywood turned to neighboring Malaysia. The palatial Thai-style buildings constructed for the set have never been torn down, and you can still hear all kinds of local gossip about the film's stars.

Technically, Langkawi is a cluster of islands, the largest of which serves as the main focal point. Ask how many islands actually make up Langkawi and you'll hear either 104 or 99. The official MTB response? "Both are correct. It depends on the tide!" On Langkawi Island itself, the main town, Kuah, provides the island's administrative needs, while on the western and northern shores, the beaches have been developed with resorts. The west-coast beaches of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah are the most developed; however, the concept of "development" here is quite low-key. To the north, Datai Bay and Tanjung Rhu host the island's finest, and most secluded, resorts.

    Cameron Highland - Malaysia

    hi friends...

Cameron Highlands, it's one of my favorite Malaysia destination. You come here to relax, and enjoy the cool refreshing atmosphere. Imagine sipping your favorite English tea, and nibbling the scones spread with butter and strawberry jam, while taking in the beautiful picturesque scenery of vegetable farms, tea plantation and montane jungle forest.

The Cameron Highlands are the largest and most genteel of the hill resorts in Malaysia. It's located in Pahang's north-western corner, at an altitude of 1,829 meters. The Cameron Highlands were discovered by William Cameron in 1885. In these days the British planters realized that those mountains were very fertile. Because tea was prized commodity among the colonies, they decided to grow tea on the slopes of the Cameron Highlands.

British families who were stationed in Malaysia at the time also took to hills in a respite from the hot, humid tin mines and rubber plantations. Some of the old bungalows, which they left behind are still being preserved for viewing by tourist, with a few facilities added for the conveniences of visitors. So, much of the character of the Cameron Highlands has remained unchanged since colonial times.
Since that time the Cameron Highlands has developed into a favored getaway among honeymooning couples. The cool, fresh air on the highlands is also a retreat for city dwellers who want to retreat temporarily from the noise and pollution in the city.
The drive time from Kuala Lumpur is about three and a half hours. It is a 295 km drive. The quickest route is by the North-South Expressway turning in near the town of Tapah. From Tapah you will hit the long winding road (about 60km) to Cameron Highlands. Driving up to Cameron Highlands is a pleasure in itself, as many interesting stops along the way can be made. You can take a short break at the Kuala Woh Forest Recreation Park. There are picnic areas and a hot spring.

There are several tour companies along the main drag in Tanah Rata. Most have tours leaving around 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and include visits to a tea plantation, where you see the tea-making process; a strawberry farm; a butterfly farm; a rose garden; and the Sam Poh Chinese Buddhist temple. I think they all cost around the RM15 to 20.
January is one of the main picking months for strawberries. They grow 4 crops a year!

There are other more extensive tours of the region- including ones to an Orang Asli village

This is a view of the tea plantation valley with the workers housing in nestled in the valley. One thing about Strawberries in Cameron Highlands, they are not as sweet as those grown overseas. Thus some sugary powders are added to make it sweeter taste!

There is a Strawberry Farm shop called the Hill Strawberry Farm. Here you can buy freshly made Strawberry Jam and Strawberries. The shop is sits right next to jungle. Just the right place to have some strawberries, sipping your highland tea which can get from the shop, and enjoy the greenery. You can also pop in the strawberry orchard and have a look at how the strawberries are grown. Unfortunately they don’t allow the picking of the strawberries.

Tourist places in Malaysia - Genting Highland

hi everyone.. how are u ? Other than Cameroon Highland, there is another Highland which is Genting Highland in Malaysia.. but between this two i more prefer to go to Cameroon Highland coz there is alot of interesting thing we can see...

Hope you will enjoy this place as well.....

[IMG]2,000 meters above sea level, Genting Highlands, a magnificent city on the hilltop, is but a mere 50km from Kuala Lumpur. It offers a cool respite from the hustle and bustle of the city capital. Crisp invigorating mountain air complemented by majestic scenery spreads out before your eyes. Lush green tropical rainforest shrouded in a veil of perpetual mist makes it hard to believe that you are just minutes away from the sweltering equatorial heat and the ever dusty city. Here, consistent temperatures between 16 and 23 degrees provide natural air conditioning.
[IMG]Genting Highlands Resort offers the bountiful harvest of nature together with a staggering potpourri of international standard facilities. Besides the cool air and scenic surroundings, this hilltop city also houses the country's one and only casino. However, one should not underestimate its value as this casino has been featured in many films produced by Hong Kong, Taiwan, and even Hollywood. Besides the casino, this hilltop resort also has a theme park of its own and an entertainment center.

    [IMG][IMG]

If we go during the weekends, it will be very busy.

thanks for reading, i will send more about other places..

    devi to the top

Hi friend, this details of pulau tioman - Pahang..

    Pulau Tioman - Malaysia

Tioman Island is a small island, 39 km long and 12 km wide, located off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The densely forested island is still sparsely inhabited, but is surrounded by numerous white coral, making it a haven for scuba divers from around the region.

Its beaches were depicted in the 1958 movie, South Pacific as Bali Hai. In the 1970s Time magazine selected Tioman as one of the world's most beautiful islands.

The island is served by ferries from the Malaysian mainland and Singapore, and propeller plane service by Berjaya Air from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Except for a short concrete path connecting the airport at Tekek to the nearby Berjaya Resort, there are no roads on Tioman and you will have to resort to seabuses and speedboats to get around.

[IMG]It is possible to cross the island on foot from Tekek to Juara, but the two-hour trek through the jungle is fairly strenuous (and not recommended if you're lugging a backpack! - Even though, it can be done, just be sure to watch your step).

    Pulau Tioman

    More about Pulau Tioman;........

Malaysia's dive sites - Tioman group of islands

[IMG]Tioman Island (peninsular Malaysia) considered one of the most beautiful islands in the world; Tioman Island is the largest and most developed of the volcanic islands that make up the Pahang Marine Parks. The other islands are Pulau Renggis (Renggis Island), Pulau Sepoi (Sepoi Island), Pulau Labas (Labas Island), Pulau Soyah (Soyak Island), Pulau Chebeh (Chebeh Island), Pulau Tulai (Tulai Island), Pulau Sembilang (Sembilang Island) and Pulau Seri Buat (Seri Buat Island).

In 1958, Pulau Tioman was chosen to be James Michener's fictitious Bali Hai for the filming of the Hollywood classic, South Pacific. Since then, Tioman Island became a popular tourist attraction especially among underwater explorers.

There are over 20 dive sites around Pulau Tioman:- Kador Bay, One Tree Bay, Batu Malang, Chebeh island, Labas Island, Magician Rock, Tiger Reef, Golden Reef, Soyah island, Renggis island, Marine Park, Tokong Bahara and Tokong Burong.

Favorite Dives: Northern Pulau Chebeh. Large boulders slope down to about 25 meters providing divers with interesting exploration through the many swim-through tunnels. The hard coral terrain is interrupted by numerous soft corals, sea fans and black corals at the deeper end. Blue spotted stingray can be seen at the sandy bottom while moray eels, parrotfish, butterflyfish and sweetlips stay close to the corals

Tiger Rock. Regarded as one of the top dive sites in Tioman, this submerged reef is worth the dive despite the stronger currents. The reef is located in the open sea and is accessible only by dive boat. Hard and soft corals make up the seascape. Schools of glass sweepers and cardinal fish seek refuge in crevices while rainbow runners, barracudas, jacks and bumphead parrotfish swim in the blue water.

Seafan Garden. Excellent site to see sea fan. In between the crevices and the seafan are glass sweepers darting about. Also a great site to observe colorful nudibranchs on the walls of the coral block.

    Langkawi Island - Kedah

    Langkawi Island / Pulau Langkawi

Langkawi island is an archipelago of 104 islands lying in the north western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The exact location of these tropical islands is at the site where the Straits of Malacca meets the waters of the Andaman Seas.

The largest of these islands is called Langkawi Island and is bigger than the Penang Island. The other islands in this group are Island of Pregnant Maiden (Pulau Dayang Bunting), Lion Island (Pulau Singa Besar) and Beras Basah Island. The smallest of these islands are atolls roughly the size of an ordinary house!

Langkawi is coined from the Malay words Lang and Kawi. Lang is a brown eagle and Kawi is a local manganese stone. The ancient fishermen must have seen eagles flying clutching the manganese stones! A giant monument of a brown eagle clutching the manganese stone greets all visitors to Langkawi near the Kuah Jetty.

The main tourist attractions of Langkawi Island is its virgin white sandy beaches. The beaches have very gentle continental slope and the water is crystal clear.

This island is unique in the sense that it has so many legendsand myths associated with it.Langkawi Island is therefore also called Pulau Lagenda or Legendary Island.

The most talked about legend is that of Mahsuri who is said to have laid a curse on this island for seven generations.Luckily the period of this curse is over now and Langkawi Island is fast becoming an internationally recognised tourist destination.

The government of Malaysia has declared the entire Langkawi Island as a duty free zone. Hence this island is also termed Duty Free Island. All goods sold in this island are exempted from government tax. Therefore this Legendary Island is a haven for the shoppers. You only need to stay in Langkawi for a minimum of 48 hours to take back home a reasonable amount of tax free goods.
