Thumbs down Re: hand purses in KL

Hi Namrata

By saying 'handpurses' do you mean wallets? If you are not 'brand conscious' and would not mind imitations and with reasonable prices to boot you can get them at Chinatown (a.k.a. Petaling Street). Do not know where you live right now or how well you know the city but if you are taking a taxi just mention the street and they will get you there. This is the hotspot for all manner of stuff from clothes to shoes, bags, jewellery, watches, luggage etc. all imitations of course. You will be spoilt for choice. Bargaining is encouraged here but a word of caution, the vendors/peddlars who were previously locals are now mostly foreigners (Bangladeshies) and unless you are serious about purchasing the product DON'T bargain. My co-sis from Bangalore who is a hardcore 'price haggler' did just that for a purse which she ended up not buying. The vendor became violent, tailed her and hurled abuses at her. So be very careful. Take your hubby along, do not go alone. Another place you may want to visit is the night market along Masjid India (the Indian hub of KL). The vendors here are mostly locals and pleasant. Enjoy your shopping!

Ta! Mona
