I was thinking about joining ucla extension. I want to see if i hv the option of converting my h4 to f1 and if that will give me an option to work and opt. My h1 didnt get through the lottery. What course are you doing? I would appreciate if you have any details.

Sorry to hear about your H-1.Hope you will get next year.

I am doing a course in accounting.
I am doing it on H-4 but you can do courses on F-1 as well.but i guess u need to give TOEFL exam for doing on F-1 and certain other issues..i am not sure about that.You can check at Uclaextension.edu.

So, where exactly you are located?
How long you have been in LA?

I live in Pasadena. I have been here for about 3 months now.
what is your course duration and fees? I did see that on F1 i will hv to give TOFEL but if i do it on h4 visa then i dont think i will be able to work, right?
i should give then a call and check.

My course duration is about 2 years and fee is around $ 9,000 depending upon the no. of courses i will take.
Ya on H-4 you can't work but i on F-1 fee will be much higher.
I guess you need to check and clear with them about that.
