Trip to Japan - Osaka and Kyoto local info needed

Hi ILites from Japan ,
A friend of mine is travelling flying to Osaka this Saturday. She is travelling to Japan alone and for the first time. She will be going from Osaka to Kyoto. She was expressing concern about some things and I thought I might ask our friends here who have been/are in Japan.

1. She is pure vegetarian with a sensitive stomach. She typically avoids fastfoods ( including MacD, Subway, Taco Bel etc) and eats only at indian restaurants . While pure veg restaurants is too much to expect, I was wondering if any of you would know of any indian restaurants in Kyoto ?

2. She is worried about language barrier - specially for her Osaka to Kyoto commute . Any suggestions ?

3. She would like to visit some temples around Kyoto during her 2 week stay there, but from online search I believe its the tourist season there and the crowd is too much.. so, any travel/safety tips or suggestions.

If you could pass on your tips, It would be great ..
