Hi Divya,

Yokohama/Japan itself is a very nice place to live in. It is sever cold now. Might be the max temp will be 9 degree and min may go upto 0 degree. So be prepared for that like jackets, sweaters, thermal etc etc....

There are few Indian shops for getting grocessories. We can order online and they will deliver the next day through courier. Going to the shop and getting might be very costly because of transportation expense.

Japan is quite expensive only when compared to other countries. But people are very good.

Another barrier is language. Very Japanese speak english but really very very nice and safe place to live in.

Happy stay in Japan.

With regards
Geetha

Hi Divya,

I was in Japan for past 3 years. Medical facility is available but only Japanese doctor. Even only very few doctors know good english.... So meidical facilities will not be like India.

for ordering grocessories you can check www.ambikajapan.com, www.indojin.com, www.baticrom.com

With regards,
Geetha

Hello Geeta,

Winter wears are expensive there or wat ? We are ready with some sweaters and thermals (woolen), but not any jackets. Thinking of buying them from there, coz' they'll occupy so much of space.

How abt the cost of dresses there ? Dresses in the sense.. Jeans, Tops etc ...

Cheers!

Hi Divya,

Yes dresses are generally costly.. But there will be sale in all shops frequently. For immediate use it is better to buy and go from India because while coming out from airport itself you will be requiring jackets ....... You will not be able to manage with the sweater...

Get glouse and a wollen scarf too from India itself. For extra use you can get it there during sale. Normal price is toooooooo high. We can get it only during sale......

Jeans and tops are also little expensive when compared to India... So u can buy during the sale.

With regards
Geetha

HI Divya,
I stayed in Japan for two years. Belive me you are very fortunate to see this country. I badly miss Japan . First thing is it is very safe. even at midnight. People are very courteous they go out of the wayto help you . Even though mostof them dont speak english but they guide you with maps or draw sketches. From yokohama you can visit KAMATA station there you will find Indian grocery shop called INDOBAZAAR.YOU get everything there it is the cheapest store . you will surely enjoy japan
GOODLUCK

hi divya,
this is seema from japan. i actually live in yokohama. u need not worry about the place. when are u coming to japan?this is infact a good place to live. the language here is japanese. but u need not worry it will take a week or so for u to adjust with this environment.for everything u can use the map. no need to depend on others.regarding indian stores.yes. we do have so many stores through direct buying n online buying. there are lot of idian families in yokohama. we are ofcourse there to help u.the cost of living is little high n nothing is free in japan.
take positive n have a good stay in japan u ill feel comfortable in all ways.
