Default Trip to Switzerland from Munich

Hi All,

We are planning to visit Switzerland in September from Munich.
I would like to know some details regarding the trip and what would be the most cost effective method for the trip.
Would also like to know any best deals for the trip.

We will be going with my 13months kid.
Pls let me know if this is the right time to visit the place with my kid.

Thanks in Advance.

Cheers,
Vani.

Hi Vani,

We have always driven down to Swiss so i don't know how expensive/convenient other modes of transport are. but trains are for sure good too.

sept will be like in Munich.. sun but windy and slightly cold. because swiss has more lakes and mountains it can be colder than here too. but then it'll only get colder henceforth so better plan the trip in sept itself. if you're only aiming at visiting cities then ofcourse staying in the city will be the best option for you. we always book through hrs.de that offers good deals (the site is also in english). keep an eye if breakfast is included too. many hotels charge extra for breakfast. we always carry rice cooker, puliogare mix etc., since we are vegetarians. i always google beforehand to find out restaurants, pharmacies near the hotel so that saves time if any need arises. how long do you plan to be there?

Latha

Hi Latha,

Thanks a lot for your reply!!
And sorry for my delayed reply, as there was some problem with our internet and it was working only from yesterday.

We are planning to stay for 3-4 days.

I would also like to tell you that we got a house near OEZ mall, very near to my husband's office.
Thanks once again for all your support.

Vani.

Hi vani,

I live in frankfurt, and this is the perfect time to visit swiz. I went to swiz trip from sept 10 - 13, 2009, with my 18 months old kid. The weather was really awesome - quiet sunny even at top of europe, but with mist coming around often . i.e., perfect for going with kid and to enjoy.

In ICE it costed 124 Euros, for me and my husband.(To and fro). Since we travelled with kid, we got a good closed cabin in ICE. Then you can take swiz pass - nearly 440 francs for 2 people, for 4 days. That can be taken in munich hauptbahnof itself. If you have that pass, u will get 50% off in cable cars. we went to Titlis - rotair - around 80 Euros for 2, and Top of Europe, Jungfrajoch - around 120 Euros for 2( after discount ;( ). There is no other cheapest way to explore swiz upto me. If u r planning with ur car, then i dont have any idea on that.

I took a water heater with me. Since my kid wants to have rice item atleast once in a day, I got some MTR ready to eat rice items from here(for us also). Just heated water, dipped the packs for 5 mins in water and we had it. it was really very good. u will not get enough time to go to restaurants. moreover, restaurants are very very costly.

And I got 'kaffeesahne' - condensed milk in sachets, that germans use for their coffee( u could have seen them in Mc Donalds etc.,) . That need not be kept in freezer. i mixed that milk(just 30ml - 3 sachets), boiling water and sugar and gave to my kid.

It is more important to look after ur kid's hunger. Else, kids will go restless, and they will start troubling us, then we cant enjoy our trip.

Enjoy ur trip. Make it as soon as possible to enjoy good climate.
