if you can buy here, you can get diff varieties also.regarding children clothing, you can get min required and then buy here.I really like the children clothing here.(ofcourse i dont have kids).
And coming to your vessels....get a mixie if possible. As I bought most of the things here, i could not not suggest you much. Hope you get better responses. you can also go thru the thread "movingto germany from chennai-guidance needed " regards

| | Re: Moving to Munich in August Hi Vani, Welcome to Germany. In my opinion you can bring a small cooker (3 litre ) Your kid is 10 mths old so once you will come here it will be useful till you explore the things as per your convenience. In august it will be last days of summer so check weather before coming here...so according to that you can carry the things in hand baggage. (it shows 10 days weather) You can get very nice & light weight Woolen sweaters & leggings here comparatively India. I will suggest you to keep your kid warm when you are landing in Munich b'coz weather is always unpredictable In munich. Hope it helps.. |

Hi Vani,
Welcome to Munich.. landing in summer it's the right time to adjust to colder Bavarian weather:)
We have been in Germany since 2003... were in Dusseldorf first and then moved to Munich in 2007. I have a 4 yr old boy and soon-to-be 1 yr old girl.
Right now it's pleasant in Munich but all this is relative. We have gotten used to the weather in Germany so for you it can be cold. For first timer carry some light sweater till you can find your way around, as Ruchi says.
As for utensils, I suppose you'll live in a furnished apartment. All apartments have only electric hot plate or ceramic cooking range so the normal vessels that we use back home are useless. Carry a pressure cooker with spare parts that's a must. Also a mixie that can be used for grinding idli dosa batters too. These too we don't get here. Rice cooker you can buy locally. It'd be definitely expensive if you convert to indian rupees but upto you to prioritise what you need the most from home. You'll get basic indian grocery here. Carry coconut grater, tamarind (we get excellent tamarind paste at the Thai shops, if you like), vadagam kind of things. Else you can manage.
As for the community i don't know if it's of noticeable size. I see Indian faces here n there but do not have indian friends.
Which part of Munich will you stay in? You'll like it here for sure but it'll take some time to get used to this culture. Any other info please feel free to drop a line here.
