Default Infant clothing

Hello moms, I will be giving birth in a couple of months and I am currently living in konstanz, Germany... I am willing to know more about managing infant clothing as baby's grow much faster and I think is unnecessary investing in buying new clothes. Could you please add some tips of how to manage clothing in different seasons...will flowmarkt be an option or other means? Thanks!

Dear Darshi....here are some tips got from the net......

Buying clothes for a growing baby is a bit challenging for many new parents. Today, the choice of baby clothing available in the market is unlimited. There are so many types of designs and so many fabrics available in baby clothes that, at times, choosing between them seems to be an impossible task. However, while buying clothes for babies, you need to keep certain basic conditions in mind. They should be comfortable, pose no hazard for the baby (such as buttons that might be swallowed) and be suitable for his/her age as well. Babies grow out of their clothes quickly, so you should not buy too many clothes at a time. However, the baby clothes should not be so few also that you end up washing them every other day. In order to help you buy clothes for newborns, we have provided a number of tips in the following lines, just for you!

Tips On Baby Clothes
  • When buying children's clothes, the first thing to remember is that they must be easy to put on, easily washable and above everything else, comfortable to wear.
  • It is always advisable to buy trousers or skirts with elasticized waistbands and shoulder straps, for a baby.
  • Prefer buying clothes that can be stretched and have a wide neck, because they are easier to wear as well as take off.
  • Avoid buying clothes that are adorned by lace, as babies can get their fingers caught in the lace.
  • Always go for natural fibers as far as baby clothes are concerned, especially in summers.
  • Clothes that open in front and have poppers are easier to put on as well as take off the baby.
  • Try to avoid buying clothes that have buttons, as buttons can off and get swallowed by the baby.
  • Avoid clothes that have ties attached to them, as the ties can come off easily and you will have to sew them on again.
  • Never ever opt for clothes that have rough stitching. They can be uncomfortable for the baby.
  • Since babies tend to picked up by so many people, so many times, it is best to go for clothes that do not need ironing.
Basic Wardrobe For A Newborn
  • 6-8 stretch suits (always buy according to weight not age)
  • 2 nightgowns (comfortable and easy to put on and take off)
  • 4 sleeveless vests, with poppers under the crotch
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • 3 cardigans (for winters)
  • A sunhat and a light jacket (for summers)
  • A warm hat, mittens and snow suit (for winters)
Hope this info will be useful to you.....

Hi,

Well for me, even after 2 kids, clothing for children is complex:( But atleast for my 2nd one we got to use the bodies, full body suits of my 1st born.

Depending on your due date start with the basic stuff that the hospital will tell you (or follow a list on the internet). I normally buy from H&M, Tchibo (their bodies and schlaf suits are very good), C&A and if you have access to Baby Walz check out when they have sales on. I have never bought from flohmärkte so no idea but recently i got few dresses for my daughter from the second hand shops. They're damn good and priced very very well for the brands. But you'll not, most of the times, get socks, bodies in 3 or 4 in a pack at second hand shops. Those get in C&A.. cheap and you'll not mind throwing them away after a good round of use. Used clothes we normally take to India and give away to some charity.
