want to buy independent house in Atlanta.

Hi Friends,

We will be moving to Atlanta,GA.
And we r planning to Buy an INdependent house there.

But we are little bit confused where to buy as we should be looking for a good school district.

Can you please suggest the best schools in and around Atlanta ?

Actually I did some research and found out that Marietta,Alpharetta schools are good.

But our budget is not more than $280k.

So kindly help me.

Alpharetta is a good area and lot and lot of indians live in this place.I am not sure about marietta.Lot of indians buying homes in exit 13 and exit 14 which is littie far away from the companys but they are getting new homes.I think you would get for your budgent(5-6 years old homes) in the near exisits like Exit-9 and exit-10 on GA-400.
But my suggestion stay in appartment for 6 months and get to know atlanta and then decide buying the house.

Hey Veditha, like Priya suggested if possible try living in an apartment for a while. As far as finding a house in you budget, it definitely possible. We just bought a house in Powder springs it is west of Marietta, as my husbands job is west of Atlanta. you might want to consider commute too!

I'm not from Atlanta. But I do know that greatschools.com is a website which gives rating for schools. Maybe you can check it to get an idea of schools in the area you are looking for houses.

Just wanted to add that I used greatschools()net a lot when we were looking for a house. I was able to select a few schools and tell the realtor that I wanted homes that were in those school districts.

But we r not able to make up our mind whether to go for a old house in marietta ( as it has very good schools ).
Or we should go for new construction towards Alpharetta.

Any reviews about the old houses built after 1999.

Hey Veda, We have just moved to Atlanta. We just got a house that was built in 2002. It is in a very nice neighborhood ( ofcourse this is in Powder Springs west cobb). You might be able to get a bit more in a resale house than a new one, but it depends on preference and affordability. What about commute to work?

Let me ask you a question? how old your kids? If they go to elementary school - Shiloh pointe elementary school has a good rating in cumming. If they go to high school Big Creek and vickery high schools are good.shilon pointe school comes under forsyth county.Big creek and vickery comes under Fulton county.You can see the reviews of these schools and do the home search.
If you are looking for new homes in forsyth county.Search in exit 12 &13 exits on 400.

I saw an ad in the local grocery store . it was 210k in alpharetta ( i guess it should be an old house not sure). it was from the "Fairmont homes" . please search online.

Actually we need all the three schools - Elementary,Middle and High school.

We are looking for East Cobb right now as the schools are good.We have our some friends and they suggested to the East Cobb.

Any reviews about living in the old or houses.
