Default Working Women in Dubai!

I was recently on holiday in India visiting my family. As expected, I was bombarded with never ending questions about how difficult it is for women to live in Dubai and how hard it must be for me, as an expat, to actually work in a country dominated by men. This misconception about women’s lives in the Middle East region in general and the Arab world in particular is plain flabbergasting.
Dubai is an exceptionally attractive and modern country in every possible way, and what women, especially locals, have achieved over the past few years is truly admirable. A recent research survey about “Women in The Middle East Workforce” published by the Middle East’s No 1 job site, Bayt.com, implies that out 1,515 interviewed working women in the region, 75% GCC Nationals are working for a sense of achievement against 72% who are working towards monetary independence. Women have become an integral component for the country’s continuous progress and well being. Indeed the survey shows that 76% of women interviewed by Bayt.com actually stated that they have women occupying senior positions in their companies. That simply gives me more determination to settle down and build a family right here in Dubai. Bayt.com, you are stars!
