Unhappy Re: Anyone not happy with Canada?

Hi

I am new here.My name is Nalini and I regret moving here to Canada so badly.I married a tamil boy born and bought up in Canada and have been here for the past 4 years and dont like the cold at all and often think back and regret about my decision. My husband is very nice which compensates for part of the country problem but recently I have been getting depressions.I also have a son who is 20 months old now.Any suggestions how to cope with depression?I live in Moncton(New Brunswick Province).

Nalini:
Please research light therapy. Many people in North America have trouble with depression from the lack of sunlight esp in winter months. You can get special full spectrum lights in your house (not very expensive depending on how you do it) and sit near them for certain amount of time daily. Check out on the net about this.

Hi There,

Its interesting to see so many bad reviews of Canada. I moved to Canada almost 7 years from now. I don't regret moving here at all, in fact I am glad. It has its benefits and problems like any other place.

It is very cold(you have no idea how cold it can get, its undescribable). Especially the city I live in is the coldest in Canada. Yet I wouldn't say I am unhappy with it. At times it becomes very difficult to live here due to the weather, but it also depends on what you want in life.
  1. I became a citizen in 3 yrs
  2. I get EI if i lose my job
  3. If I get pregnant I get 9 months off with 50 % pay
  4. Health is free
  5. Public schools are as good as private one. its very rare at least in the city I Live in that ppl send there kids to private
  6. Every child is paid certain amount of money as childcare
  7. If want to work in states i can work in T1. People here are amazingly friendly unlike other cities in NA

These are the few advantages I mentioned above makes up for the bad weather. After all what is the point in living in a city which is great weather wise but not so great on opportunities and other benefits. Since the other post spread kind of negative impression, I thought I would put some info on the facts. This is strictly my opinion

Sati

HI Sati,
It’s nice to hear some good things about Canada, otherwise 99% people say bad things. We have applied for Canadian PR which probably we may receive in 2-3 months. Recently we are in USA where everything is good but still there are some disadvantages too. I know Canada’s weather is very cold but you have a freedom to work.
We are planning to live in Calgary. Can you tell me about the job market in Canada as my hubby is in IT.
Thanks for posting good things about Canada so people like me who scare to come there will get boost.
Looking forward your reply,
Mona
