Smile Please advise friends...

I am an Indian living in Dubai since my childhood. I want to immigrate to Canada. My husband is an engineer. He is too living in Dubai.

I have heard from many people not to migrate to canada as finding a job for an engineer woud be tooo difficult they say.

Is the weather ok for Indians out there???

As I heard there a lot of racism feeling in Australia?

How about Canada?

Is it better to apply through an agency or can I do it on my own?

I dont have any relatives out there. Is there any way that I can make my immigration faster?

Kindly advise me friends.....

ThanQ

hi nilofar,
canada is a lovely place. the country is beautiful, the people very polite and the main cities surprisingly multicultural. there is no outward racism or discrimination though many will share experiences where they may have felt discriminated against.

my family has been here three years and we love it. we used a law firm though i know of others who have done the paperwork themselves. we too had no family or friends but have learnt to create family out of the few friends we have made here. it takes approximately 2-3 years for most people to settle down. for many, it means that they leave positions of middle or senior level in their professiona and start from the begining (something they do not want to do). most professionals (engineers, doctors, lawyers etc) are best off requalifying or getting their qualifications accredited though the lisencing body concerned. if not, in all likelyhood they are going to be very dissatisfied here with their options.
Engineering in Canada - Overview

for general information about canada for newcomers i would strongly recommend u go thru the site Settlement.Org - Providing information and answers to settle in Ontario, Canada.

hope this helps,
ferzana

hi nilofer,
i wrote you a long (according to me) reply the other day but it seems to have dissapeared in cyberspace.
stongly suggest you familiarise yourself with these sites before you decide to come here:
Professional Engineers Ontario: Welcome to PEO's website
Settlement.Org - Providing information and answers to settle in Ontario, Canada.

We have been here three years and love the place. However, there is a lot of initial struggle you may have to face to get established in the workplace- particularly for your husband as an engineer.
take care,
ferzana
