Default Bay Area North Indians--Dont focus on regionality, Lets be Global

Well I am actually disappointed to see some threads, asking Telegus or Tamilians to ping back. I think if we have to stick to our narrow minded ness than probably India is better place for us. Dont we have enough regionlism there?

I am myself a North Indian and frankly I feel releived that north indians are not asking other NIs to ping back. In a place where being Indian is minority in itself , asking your region people to come out is like saying, I will eat non-veg food if vegitables vanish from earth. I think living so far away from our own land should broaden people's perspectives. If we still want to cling in hordes of same language speaking crowds, then probabaly somewhere we dont find ourselves global enough. Somewhere we find ourselves inadequate enough to understand other communities.

So ladies , widen your horizion and spread your wings. Your work, marriage or life has landed you a place where you can really explore diversity world has to offer. If you dont find yourself open enough to even reach out to other regional people from your native country, then probably you will go back without much learning of tolerance and openness.

Ria

yes, i think that was a terrific post too, ria. I too have seen that sort of thing a coulple of times and it is really not in the right spirit, isnt it.

We are here , in a different culture and country. All of us are from the same country, albiet different regions. It makes no sense to keep harping on our regionalities.

I , myself am a 'north indian' married to a 'south indian'. Believe me , people are the same every where :) , north/south doesnt matter at the heart of things.

Just chill out, meet other people without wondering whether they are from the north or south and have fun.

Sanchita.

Ria, good topic. Yes, I've seen people specially asking others of the same region or language to ping back. May be they have some language barriers etc. The one reason that I'd like to meet the people speaking my mother tounge is, so that my daughter can learn some of that language from their kids, if and when we can meet regularly. Other than that, I think I'd like to meet anyone from any part of India. No preferences.

Vidhu- I am in same boat as you are. I keep replying about the meet, but everyone is busy. So, I just stopped replying to the thread.

Thank you folks for acknowledging my point.

With that said, I am all in to meet up people from any region. Lets make it success this time. I see a thread for Cash & Carry meet. I really dont think that will allow people to even talk out a bit, it s just too crowded place on weekends. Probably an eating joint or a potluck in some park ( I throw idea for Shoreline Park, I just love this park) is better thing to do.

Chip in and keep the enthu till we all meet.

Ria

Well said Ria, I also felt its ridiculous to pick friends based on the regionality. I guess it all started by a few with language problem to communicate and develop friendship.

I hope more Ilites show up atleast this time, to make it a real BLAST!!!!!!!

Regards,
Geeth Priya.
