| Hi Vani, I can totally empathize with what you are going through. The stove plates do get stained with grease, food particles etc. From your post, looks like you've tried your best cleaning them. So my suggestion will be to discard them and get new ones from Walmart/Target. Instead of using cleaning materials, sponges and spending your energy trying to remove these grease stains, it is better to buy them new. You can get reasonably priced ones in sets of 2 or 3. They come with 2 big size/2small or 3small/1big. Even when we cover the plates with AL foil, these do tend to get stains and marks..especially with our Indian cooking..these things are bound to happen. Also, after you purchase new ones, double cover them with thin AL foils, and please replace the foils once a week. You can purchase foils from dollar store too. Since I had lived in apartments before and even asked the maintenance people for cleaning suggestions..they will suggest me to buy new ones which works out cheaper. Hope this helps. | When I used to have a coil stovetop, I used to soak them in a degreaser solution (VIM) overnight...you may want to try and use a steel wool scrubber too. It is a pain to clean them, but soaking them really lifts the dirt off. Scrub them with some comet too, the bleach powder really works. Foils make the plates worse I think...the food sticks on and doesn't come off so I never used it. hope that helps!

| Best thing is to replace your old plates. The new ones are reasonably priced at walmart or target. To keep mine clean, I wrap the plates in foil. And twice a year, I soak them in soap overnight and then spray them with oven cleaner and leave it outside (due to extremely strong fumes) for a few hours before scrubbing them clean with a metal sponge. The oven cleaner is the strongest stuff you can get to get the oven plates clean. |

| hi i use the normal dish washing soap solution with a good scrubber this helps me a lot. also i have put aluminium foil for my gas range, so the dirt is minimum so once in a month we will replace the foil. try it... also the bleach works good but it smells bad.

| HI Try Easy off oven claner you can get it a can for 2$ fromwalmart and it works better.ONce you are done cooking let the coil cool off for then remove the plates and spray it and wait for 5min. then just wash it off with dish washing liquid it works better. It even removes even the stains from the sides too. Raji |
