| Hi Corallux, Maybe I didnt complete my intro properly.....I am a S/w professional and not currently working..decided to take some time off to settle down..hubby is an Engineer and working. I stay in Epping, up North, dont find many Indians here. Any ladies in this area? I know its about moving to a new place....and we have been around city to a few places..just would be nice to keep in touch with Indians! Thanks |

| Hiya, Not a problem at all. You have done the right thing. Get a feel of the place. Once you are comfortable, start looking for jobs. One thing, enjoy yourself now. Once you start working, you will not have time to even breathe. There are plenty of Indians in Northern suburbs. Please go through this forum, I think I saw someone in Craigeburn. Go the Indian stores I am sure they can help you out. I do understand how you feel. I felt the same. Google the website for the various Indian Assoc in Melb. I am sure that will help you out. | Hi!! there! All the indis living in Melbourne To introduce I am ritu arora, belong to Punjab, staying in Bahrain( Close to Dubai) for last 9 years is moving to Melbourne in August 08 with my hubby and two sons aged 14 & 11. My hubby an electrical engineer by profession is gonna take up a job in Melbourne. We are all excited but at the same time we have a sense of fear of early settling down ,being a new place. Though we have travelled world, but still travelling and making a country your own home are two different scenarios. Weve been suggested a few suburbs by our relocation consultant tieing in well with the good schools/colleges - Balwyn, Mount Waverley,Doncaster East, Box Hill, Boxhill South, Mont Albert North, Glen Waverley. Would like to know which suburb is having a good mix of Asian population especially Indians. For now this is the first concern and look forward to having more chats. |

| Thanks Corralux, I shall visit the thread u suggested. Could u guide me on the average monthly provisions expenses for a family of 4 with two grown up kids? Also how r the prospects for getting a job as a teacher in High School/Secondary college. I have been teaching in British Curriculum school in Bahrain for the past 5 years. Shall look forward to hearing from you. Regards ritu |

| HI Ritu, Provisions are a bit difficult to predict. It depends on individuals taste. To be honest, the price of dals etc have jumped up. As for teaching, the prospects are good. Be prepared though, the students here are not like the ones we are used to. They hve more rights & privileges. An overseas experience should help you. For more info, please visit the website of the state you plan to settle in. That will give you a list of Dos & Don'ts... Regards, Corallux Quote:
