Default Re: Indians from Melbourne? Introduce yourselves here!

Hi, I think I should introduce myself again, as I had joined many weeks ago, and then life became a bit chaotic (Kabhi kuch, kabhi kuch!) so I am posting after ages. I will try to be more communicative, and I really want to get to know some Indians around my area, esp anyone from Mumbai? I am from Mumbai, and came here in 1995. I have lived in Berwick since 1997. I guess what I really miss these days is Indian friends, miss the good old days in Bombay with friends and neighbours dropping in all day, lots of children playing together and big lunches and dinners and family getogethers. I think as you get older you miss your roots.

Anyway my name is Sangita Malhotra (hence the svmal!) originally Maharashtrian from Mumbai, married to a Punjabi from Kanpur. two children, daughter, 8 and son 2. Would love to get to know other mums in this forum, and can I say that I love the feel of Indusladies, it kind of feels warm and fuzzy and homely compared to many other online forums.

Bye for now, thanks,

Sangita.

Dear All,
I'm Latha from Singapore and will be moving to Melbourne in a couple of weeks time. I will be working in the CBD area and would like to ask a few questions:

1. Please suggest few areas close to my work place - is St Kilda / Southbank good areas?
2. I have a 11 year old son who will be joining me in December. Are there any good schools around the above areas mentioned. Is Melbourne Grammar a good school? Any suggestions for schools?
3. Are there any websites where I can order Indian groceries online?

I know the questions are many but any answers will be helpful

Dear Latha,

Yes, St.Kilda, Southbank are good area to live in. But very dear. You can find serviced apartments/ordinary apartments on www.domain.com.au

As for schools, I have heard Melb Grammar is a good school. It is better if you go in & have a look for yourself. After all there is a lot of difference between seeing & hearing things.

There are Indian grocery stores in the CBD & St.KIlda. I am not aware of any that take grocery orders online.

Maybe others can pitch in with info.

Regards,

Corallux
