| | Query on Australian Visa process
Hi friends,
My friends husband had applied for Skilled worker visa(Australia) for him and my friend. He is the primary applicant. My friend will be dependent.
Now he has got a letter from DIAC for Medicals. But Now my friend is 2 months pregnant. They consulted their family doctor and came to know that
they can go ahead for chest X-ray.
So they have decided to undergo medical examination and sent it to DAIC.
But the concern is they heard/found in net that if applicant or family member of applicant is pregnant then their visa processing will be delayed till
the child birth.
If any one has encountered similar situation or if any body knows about visa processing rules in such a situation, please let mw know.
So that I can inform them.
Thanks,

Sunpriya,
You could ask your friend and her husband to consult a professional immigration consultant like Y-Axis in Bangalore. They could go and speak to the consultant like they have a general inquiry and then decide what to do.
I am not sure why the Australian Immigration authorities have such a rule but I did find the same information on the net.
Sometimes there are clauses in medical insurance policies that consider pregnancy a pre-existing condition and then that is not covered by the insurance. There is a reason why there are rules, and when it comes to the immigration department, it's always better to be prepared.
Good luck.

| | Re: Query on Australian Visa process Hi Sunpriya, It is true that if anyone is pregnant during the processing, then they have to wait till the baby is born, i do not know the reasons but that's the fact. My friend and I are processing together, she is expecting and her processing would be delayed due to the same reason. However, the new priority processing by DIAC is delaying all the applications... Cheers!! |

| | Re: Query on Australian Visa process Hi Guys, I can briefly tell you why the delay occurs in the processing. In most hospitals if a person is treated as a Private or a public patient she needs to be registered before 12 weeks into her pregnancy so that a berth can be reserved for her and a doctor be setup for the regular visits, however if they arrive a later than 3 months into the pregnancy they cannot guarantee the same. That’s the reason in general the visa is issued after the pregnancy is finished and the first immunization has been done. Hope this helps you. I strongly suggest they should wait till it’s all over for many reasons including financial stress and social stress when they arrive during pregnancy. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | |
