I am travelling to India and so could you please suggest what would be the ideal gifts to be taken for parents and relatives. I dont want to go for very expensive ones..Also could you please suggest what are the good things to be bought from Sydney for my family (my son ,hubby and myself) and as I am permanently shifting to India .
Hi Smitha
Most commonly when people visit India they take T-shirts, Aboriginal paintings (small ones), coasters, mouse pads, miniature didgeridoos, boomerangs, some soft toys from the souvenir shops, opal ear rings, or maybe just good opal stones only which you can get it set in gold in India, nuts and dry fruits maybe, chocolates, some cheese if you want, my mother always collects kitchen cleaning cloths from here as she loves them, blue-tack also she loves, Australian wine (if you like or anybody likes), I have seen people carrying packets of oats from here to give to people in India, tubs of honey (I don't but i know of some), my mother-in-law loves the coffee perculators from here so I take that usually for her, some creams from Bodyshop maybe................mmmm.......thats all I can think of now.
I am not sure what exactly from Sydney you can take. Hopefully somebody living in NSW will step in here too. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. Also wanted to know if there are any specific electronic, electrical or kitchen applicances that are worth to be taken from Australia to India
Potato peelers ( the OXO branded ones are pretty good ). I have taken a few of them and gone.
Bottle openers maybe and also bottle caps ( that go on any bottles ).
I have seen this small coffee bean grinder like thing. My friend once told me
that her in-laws took that home and use it for grinding dry spices when the quantity is small........dunno how useful it will be esp when we have good stone mortars back home.
You can get some silicone spatulas and go. I am sure you get back home too but maybe something you might like to take.
Electrical/Electronic...........not sure really.
