Initial entry to Oz after grant of PR

Hi there

We recently got our visa grant on have been given upto April 2010 to make our initial entry to Oz to validate our PR. We don't intend permanently moving right now but only validating our PR and returning back to work in the Middle East and save some more and wait for the girls to be more grown up before taking the plunge.

Any suggestions on what we should do during this initial entry that will smooth the way for a permanent settlement a couple of years later. Any help / tips / suggestions are welcome from people who have experience on the matter.

Also any suggestions on where to live in Melbourne when we travel for the purpose. Which is better hotels or serviced apartments?

Welcome to the forum !! I can understand how you feel when you dont get replies, I might not be the right person to give you suggestion on this, however, try to look for short-term accomodations as serviced apartments can prove to be expensive. I have also applied for Aus & yet to file for DIAC, i have been going thro lot of websites and this is info that I found. You can check realestate.com.au, domain.com.au, gumtree.com.au. Try yahoo answers as well.

On our first visit, we stayed in hotel Holiday Inn, near to darling harbour/ china town in Sydney. Had a good time there...

Hi Lavina.... thats right way to do that....... for accomodation its best to see gumtree.com.au and realestate.com.au for short stay and try to stay near to CBD city...
