Default Racism & Nepotism Australia

Racism And Nepotism Australia

I want to make it very Very Clear that I am not discouraging any individual. It's my opinion and I have found this to be true, with many of my colleagues agreeing to it.

Friends, it's very sad but true - you have to face the fact no matter how smart you are, how intelligent you are, how good you can speak English minus accent and slang, and how normal a human being you are, your skin and language and background will make a difference in Australia.

Please take a minute to read this and be prepared for the rough journey where you will have to overcome so many obstacles & issues, that you start to ask yourself if you made a right decision moving to Australia.

Well, this place is not for weakhearted - you need to be exceptionally good and have the nerve and courage to overcome all those objections and discriminations. In the news and from friends you hear so many things - that a student going home after finishing his university late night was robbed and bashed, or that a hardworking individual who was going to work or coming back from work was bashed so badly that he had to be hospitalised. You may wonder why this.

But the fact is that here nobody cares - we are here to make a career, but I guess several Australian-born youth have gone beyond and out of control. They don’t realise they are born in such a beautiful country with excellent resources and opportunities. They instead become vandals or vagabonds or serial drug-users, and they are in real need of help, and this fury turns back on us.

So many times you get to hear in the news that teenagers between 15 to 19 were involved in robbery, stealing cars and bashing people and bullying. I know this happens everywhere - come on, this is the planet earth - but friends, the law in Australia is very weak, without much power. I pity the police here.

Just recently some of my friends were waiting for a tram, and three teenagers started yelling and shouting at them sitting in a car. Yelling bad words and using very filthy language. And one of my friends asked them what’s your problem, did we say anything to you? And all of a sudden a guy jumped out of the car with a sword to attack him. Can you believe this? Luckily there was this another old gentleman who came in and intervened and the whole situation was under control, otherwise on that day my friend either would have been dead or hospitalised.

This is very common situation here - the fact is they don’t work and they can’t see us growing, and that’s the real problem. And when you apply for jobs, I bet you would be one in a million if you get a job in the first application or interview. You have to apply apply and apply, and it will be 300 to 400 applications cause you are from the alien world and you are different and you are not up to their standard. The bottom line is that you are not suitable since you are an immigrant and you don’t deserve the chance.

Well, I guess it's my feeling or frustration - I can’t see people coming to this beautiful country and then getting abused in every way.

Take it easy... life has to go on.

This is so sad. I don't understand why would anybody behave like this? I think this shows some kind of deep rooted frustrations and discontent in the Australian society. Because, after a point, it seems to be more than just racism towards foreigners.

The root cause of this kind of behavior is something much serious than what meets the eye. It might be insecurity, jealousy or inferiority complex towards Indians which is igniting this kind of emotions.

There has to be some truth behind the allegations of racism by Australian coaches in India. Both Greg Chappel and Buchanan (who coached an IPL team) have been accused of behaving rudely towards Indian players.

Hi.. i disagree with u here, i was born in Australia and mojority of my friends are indian, so i know whats happeneing here as well...

1. There are chances of racist discrimination in any multicultural country...its just a fact of life, and whats happening in Aus is just blown out of proportion through some indian students

2. U make it seem like every indian gets attacked in Australia, this is not true, its just a coincidence, people dont wait for an indian to come by to rob them, they wait for somebody with valubles to walk by, im pretty sure they dnt just attack Indians, anybody is at risk there

3. ALOT OF PEOPLE DO CARE and im an Australian born youth so ur statment

is not true, yes there are some youths like that but not majority, but isnt this the case in any country, the gotvernment spends alot of time and money trying to meke peopel like them better citizens but if they dont care what can anyone do about it? and why would that fury turn back on them, i went through all of schooling here and since day 1 we have been taught racism is a big NO, its not like people here have been told to be racist, so why balme the whole country and government for the actions of a few.

4. What dont we here of similar news of teenagers in criminal activites in other countries, again u imply that we seee this on the news everydayits not like that, the situtaion is much better than whats happening in India... are u trying to say only a country with no criminals have prper laws and police.

5. About your friends incident, well teenage boys do dumb things, the police have set up a hotline for racist attacks, y not call taht as soon as they start yelling, instead of going and arguing with them, that is what is expected, like what mopr can teh governtmet do, they hav given u a hotline and u dont use it and decide to bring urself to there level and argue with them, and again are u trying to critize the whole nation on the acts of 3 teenage boys?

6. i once again disagree, on the job satement, ofcourse any employer would choose an Australain educted over a foreghn educated, whether they are indian or not, its just a mtter of convinence, taht is not racisim...its not that u dont deserve the chance, its just an australian educated has a better chance. There are many australian educted indians who get proper jobs...if they discriminated agianst that then that is racism, but thats not whats happeing is it.

Even i am worried that there are attcks, but i beleive its just they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and its just being blown up by students, and they have soem fault in them aswell, u dont see the rest of teh population blowing that up do u?

and manohar 24, why is it that the only posts u have written are against peopel coming to Australia, and ur profile says your from Australia, did u purposely join to make our country look bad?

hmmmmmm sorry dear pink rubies...i dont mean to offend..but these days the kind of horrible horror stories we are hearing (specially about australia..) thats what drives our opinion i suppose...

before it used to be US now its another country...finally we are not talking about citizens who are born brought up and did their schooling etc there ....job hunters or immigrants always have to gothrough some tough time.....and during the recession time now its higher....

with that being said..not all people needs to be blamed....or not the whole country...as in india also we have people who abuse and do such activities towards our own indians (which is worse).....

as Manohar said sometimes the frustration comes out badly and it just needs some vent off....

Hi sri vidya... i understand, but im trying to share the other side of the story, well the attckers dnt know if they are imigrants or citizens to them indians are indians, so i guess i have a say..., its not only immigrants that are having a hrd time even citiziens rae having a hard time finding jobs, im trying to say that it isnt racism in that case, and many of the posters have been critizing the governmnt and law for not doing anything, when they are, i guess im venting out my fustration wen people dont get the whole story

Hi manohar and pink.rubies..
Thanks for this ongoing discussion... as i am/was to move to Sydney coming july.. I fully agree with concerns of manohar and positive attitude of pink.rubies..

Dear Manohar... the picture you are portraying is really a horror story, but problem of rude youngsters using abusive language and hard to find job at first interview can be true to any most peaceful country also.
DRUGS... i am afraid the coming generation even in our homeland is getting in grips of this, and i know about United States . .
Who gets the job at 1.2.3rd interview ? But my concern is did you really have a first hand experience or a narration form a close friend at work or something ?PLEASE SAY SOMETHING..

Dear Pink.... CURRY BASHING this the slang Aussies use when they are going out to make some mess with immigrants, which is evident to Indian sub-continent only. Thus please come out of illusion they don't know what and to whom they are doing?

I read somewhere there is generally 2 queues at club entrances... one for Aussies and another for immigrants.. off course later one being longer .. (not that immis are more outgoing and thus outnumber ,, but they are checked, and allowed one at a time and given second preference than their Aussies counterparts). that reminds me of Gandhiji's episode in South Africa..

THAT IS FOR SURE AUSTRALIAN'S ARE RACIEST (we all knew it quite before all these episodes), BUT TO WHAT EXTENT THEY ARE (and when will it stop) !!!

The sense of hatred never dies , and these happening further make a drift among the cultures..

I was all set to move to UNSW_Sydney, to make my carreer , but my hopes about the place is getting dim.. and i am giving second thought to my move..

what you say ladies...

Sorry, that is not true. There is one queue. Some have a VIP queue for people with special badges or status. Many Indians are in the nightclub industry. There are Indian events in nightclubs. My son promotes a nightclub once a week.
