Unhappy Right time ??

Is this right time to move to Aus? (keeping in mind the attacks) My folks here are getting worried and are not happy with my decision. How are things now at Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane? As i always mentioned about brisbane in all my posts, can someone give the status in brisbane in particular plz. Is it much hyped here in the indian news channels or is the matter that serious?? I'm just getting lill worried and confused, added to it my ACS status still shows "in process" since 08th May2009. Is this normal ??????

People in Aus plz throw some light....

Regards,

Surekha

Talking Re: Right time ??

Surekha:

Good question...I am also in same boat...the only difference is I already have my PR. Currently I have put my plans on hold (may be many others as well..).

In view of recent attacks and the uncertainty type of reception one may be getting keeping in mind we are new to the country...I feel US is still safest bet (my perspective...).

I will rather wait and watch....and if situation does not improves..I plan to stay back in US.

I would more happy to see opinions , comments from indian family living in Australia (not student), just to get their perspective. Again students opinions is already in media all over the world.

What I am afraid of is that we would not be getting much responses though many people would view this, just because this thread is not a " Essentials to bring Melbourne, Sydney, Perth..etc"...but lets give a try

Just my 2 cents..

Thanks

Hey Shahina

How r u? After a long time. how's things with you there in the US. Good to see ur reply. Lucky you, you have got the PR, i'm really worried about the status of my ACS appcl. I wish Aussie Indians who went thro the same procedure as mine, could give me more info.

I've taken a pledge that I'd definately provide all the info possible to all those people who would immigrate in the future like me, provided I'm done with my processing and land in Aus.

Hope to get more responses !! Thanks anyway...

Cheers !!

Hi Surekha and Shahina,

How are you all doing? Its been a long time... This same question is going on in my mind.... Is this the right time? Infact at one point we thought wether its really worth moving at this time.
Its a big concern as in will people there now be looking at Indians differently? I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens. Hoping for the best.

Surekha, how is your app. moving along? did you give ur IELTS?

Hey Reena,

How you doing? If you ask me about the move if it is really worth, i would say it is definitely worth however, the time being right or not, I feel it might get back to normal by the time we finish our processing.

I spoke to a friend of mine who has many relatives settled in Melbourne and Sydney, they say life is normal and no need to worry. That makes me also think as to why only the Indian male students are being attacked rather than females and immigrants. I read the thread as well in this forum which addresses the same issue. Let's see, hope for the best.

I'm done with my ielts, scored 7.5 overall, was informed by my agent that for SIM immigration 6 should be enough. How about you? How far are you done with your processing? Keep us posted. Read the thread, "handy info", i gathered some info about the immigration. See if you can add any points.

Cheers !!
Surekha

Hey Reena,

I have sent my docs to ACS and i recvd an email from them on may-12th. But the status still shows "in process" , so i'm a lill worried. I did speak to my agent who said it takes almost 12 weeks. How about you? Could you tell me when did they recv your docs and when was the case finalised?

Also, i was infomed that DIAC and assigning a CO would take a while. Please keep me posted, so that i question my agent.

Would be eagerly waiting for ur reply.

Cheers !!

Hi Surekha,

My husband gave his app. for skill assessment (AACA for architects) on around 16th may and recieved the approval on 29th of may. Our agent did inform us that it would take up to 12weeks and it also depends on the no. of applications the dept. recieves. i guess not many architects are planning on moving!!

I think that the case officer is only assigned once the app. has reached DIAC. So about that I am also not sure since I have yet to sent the app. for DIAC.
So dont worry, i am sure you will get a approval too. Are you applying under the skilled migration category right? If so, how many points are you getting in the point test?

Hey Reena,

Sorry for the delay, but i was a lill busy and i didn't get to access my comp. Regarding the points, very honestly, i don't remember but definitely something above the qualifying points. I checked with my agent whether we are qualifying and the made the pymt immediately when we started the processing.
