| Hello ladies, I'm new to this forum. I am Sandhya, born and brought up in Hyderabad, did my Engineering in Chennai. After that I came to Dubai, working for Emirates Airline since then. I am married with 2 kids aged 2 and 5. We have got our PR for AU and planning to make the 1st entry by this July. We are quite skeptical about making a permanent move there. Right now my hubby and I are both working with good jobs. My elder son is studying in DPS. But we are thinking that maybe Dubai is not a great place for education and a permanent place of stay in the long run. So wanted to know about all your views about the place since I think it's better to get feedback from people who have been staying there for some time. I appreciate any kind of suggestions, opinions you have |

| Hello IndusLadies in Sydney, its great to find this forum full of super-successful Indian expatriates. I moved to Sydney in September '06 after getting my BS + MS in the US (am originally from Bombay). Its interesting to note that a lot of the Indian diaspora in Australia have arrived here via some other overseas posting (Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, etc). Customs here are very similar to other places I have lived in, but one thing I left off my fairly detailed preparation plan was shopping or 'who sells what'. The store names were completely unfamiliar to me, and I was looking to get the basics for my new home I was sometimes at a loss as to who sold what (e.g. simple stuff like mattresses, shower curtains, etc.). Anyway, I've compiled all of my 'getting settled' learnings at Chingri Maachh | South Asian (Indians, Pakistanis, Nepalese, Bangaldeshis, Sri Lankans) community in Australia and also maintain a personal blog at Shrimpy | Chingri Maachh. Hopefully this will be of use to other newcomers! p.s. If you have any questions for me, the easiest way to get in touch would be via the sites linked to above. | Hello Ladies, My name is Usha. I expected to see some hundreds of users logged in into this site and hence decided to choose a different username for myself (but I am not really lonely). Anyways, I live in Sydney (northshore). I am married for 5 years now and have a lovely daughter Lakshmi(15 month old). I came to Sydney in 2002 and have ever since enjoyed myself. I am currently a stay at home mum and plan to start working sometime this year. My hobbies are singing, dancing, reading, cooking, listening to music and browsing internet for hours. Hoping to meet some exciting Indians from Sydney. c ya, Usha. |
