Default Australian Vacation - Travel Agent Vs Self Bookings

Dear All,

Has anyone compared the benefits and pitfalls of using a travel agent to plan an Australian vacation vs doing it all by ourselves?

With the advent of online travel sites like Orbitz, Expedia or Travelocity, booking flights and hotels are not that difficult. We just need to do some online research on the location and stuff, but doable. What are the benefits of using a travel agent? Do they make the total bill go up or down?

Hi Jey
My personal experience, I have always self booked everything, because I tend to stick to a chain of hotels or caravan parks and by sticking with them throughout, you get special benefits and discounts. I have also found that you seem to clinche last minute deals and end paying lesser than going through a package from an agent.
Just my personal opinion
Cheers

HI Jey,

I second Sky's view point.

An agent will tell you more of the places you can cover & takes away the hassle of bookings, transportation etc.....

My personal opinion is that since you are travelling with your family, an agent would be the best option...

Regards,

C
