G'day Munisra,

Just log onto the quarantine website & they will give you the details.

As for jewellery, it would be wise to carry minimal stuff till you are comfy here.

Regards,

Corallux

Nirjohn:

I just thought I should share some information on moving-

1. Quarantine regulations are strict and hence my understanding is that wood from overseas can be tricky to get in. One of my friends told me that they do allow exceptions- I suggest you check with someone in regards to shipping wooden furniture- you could even write to quarantine.

2. I would also recommend that you do not have any food items in your container- they're a little particular and it may take a while for them to clear your container if it has food in any form.

3. If they do not allow wood, please remove the wooden ladles or other items from your kitchen-ware.

Good Luck,
Prb.

Smile Re: Moving to Melbourne, Australia

Hi, my name is Chandni and I and my husband might be moving to Melbourne in September.
I was wanting to know whether all Indian groceries and spices are available in Melbourne or do I need to carry anything from India.
Also, are most Indian utensils like cooker, idli stands, tawa, patilas etc available in Melbourne or would I need to carry that too.
what could be the approximate cost of these stuff.
I would appreciate any guidance on what things I should carry from India.

Thanks in advance.
