anyone from kampala-Uganda

i have recently shifted to kampala with my husband & two sons.i love the place.its one of the greenest cities i have seen ,weather too is great.

Could you please tell me how is life in Uganda overall..One of my friend has a job offer to work there but not sure to accept it. I would like to know your views.

sorry for late reply.
i donot know about whole Uganda but about kampala i can tell u.its a great place.u cannot compare it to London but climatically its much better than london.but if ur friend is from India he\she will find it at par with good Indian city.
security is good,Lots of Asians ,Eurepeons & Chinese r there......
all Indian things r readily available......but little costly.........
maids,drivers easily available........

i am Alpa from your neighbouring country - Nairobi - Kenya. Kampala is much nicer than Nairobi and is really coming up well.

1-2 br flat will cost anywhere between $300-$800.Depends upon the locality choosen.kampala is relatively safe, so its not necessary to choose in all indian locality.
one person can easily live on $300-$500 plus the rent .
we have been here for 6 mths only so its a rough guess.(ours is family of 4 with school going kid & a baby)

nice to know somebody from neighbouring country.yes,kampala is nice.actually i love it as it reminds me of my hometown.previously we were in Lagos (nigeria).did not like it much.
dh has been to Narobi but not me.may plan to visit sometime this or coming year.then am going to request u for information about places to visit.....keep in touch.........

ya,i loved the fabric .even carried some to India as gift to relatives.
but due to availability of cheap chinese fabric lots of cloth mills have closed down.
