Hi

No idea what they offer here, but since your question sounded generic, i thought of replying.

I myself attended Bal Vikas classes in my childhood (many many years ago) and I remember what I did there.

-We used to start with meditation ..chanting of Om.
-Then there was a morning prayer in marathi - Karagre vasate laxmi... (in our hands we have gods laxmi, saraswati, govind..so let us pray )
-Thereafter we would do 12 suryanamaskar - one of the best known all body excercise.
-After this we were taught one aasan usually.
-And then we had to read some shlokas out of a book. Also some mythological story telling and some panchatantra stories etc. Sometimes they would act them out to us.
-We used to have occasional trips to nearby temples, forts etc.
-The teachers would encourage us to display our qualities like singing in front of everyone, dancing, showing our drawings, telling a joke..... anything was ok.
-We used to play games like kho kho, musical chairs etc.

The teachers were very homely, i remember, and one "guruji" used to lead the class.
These classes would start very early in the morning and go on for 2 hours or so , in our summer and winter vacations. Yes we did get up early since it was fun . And later on Sundays only, during school time.....

Good old days.....

Shilpa

Dear Angelkushi,
Basically Bal Vikas tries to inclucate moral values in children. The children are made into small groups, depending on their age and location. It is usually conducted on Friday mornings, focussing on small Shlokas, mythological stories etc. The children tend to learn about our culture and traditions, in an informal atmosphere. From the feedback that I have received, the children enjoy these classes.

Regards
USHA
