Default My New Venture - Soft Skills Training, Event Management & Travel Representation

For 32 years I worked in the travel industry in Chennai and in my last job l was the Business Head for South Inida. In June I decided to call it quits and start something on my own. I took a 2 month break after which started my comapny is called Upper Edge Consulting & Services. It's now just 2 weeks old.

With the networking I have built up over the years I found that several organisations today recognise that soft skills training for their employees plays an important part in maintaining relationships with customers and developing successful business, thus one part of the business deals with Soft Skill Training both for corporates and individuals.

I have always had a passion for creating and managing events, its just something that seems to come naturally so I had to include Event Management into the Company Profile.

After spending more than 3 decades in the travel industry how could I not continue to keep myself involved with an industry I enjoyed being part of with all the perks of travel etc.....so included Travel Representation.

So far there has been a good response and I hope this will conitnue to grow with time. I am enjoying the learning experience of being your own boss as well!

Theres a lot on my plate but am sure with the help of my buisness partners, my family & friends, my trade associates and people like all of you ......we can JUST DO IT !

Cheers !
Sabrina

All the very best to you Sabrina! It takes guts and determination, however you do ,as you said, have 35 years in the field.
I also ahve wondered about venturing on my own yet have not taken the plunge yet. I am a soft skills and English trainer in Mumbai, however I have been in India now only 8 years after a 22 year absence (though I was here until early adolescence) and do not market myself much. (Am not advertising, Chennai is a long ways from Mumbai; since you're post was titled Soft Skills... it caught my eye!)

At this time of life I want to do something creative, am checking out some options so I can change fields using the same knowledge base but working with theater, drama elements for underprivelieged and somehow manage to earn a living also from corporate. Let's see..

Again good for you, soft skill training is so hugely important, at the risk of sounding conceited I think it is almost a public service!
With all our different cultures which is something to marvel, too often the varying intonations, peculiarites or habits of different cultures make for poor customer service and miscommunication.

We are heroines, we will make changes!

Thanks Sulkypetal for your response to my post.

Yes, it was a difficult decision to make but I think the time had come for me to move out on my own.

The company is just 3 weeks old now and I must say the response has been quite positive and that really makes me happy.

Cheers!
Sabrina
