Default velu in hospital

hello what say you about this short story of mine?

Velu in hospital..

She sat staring blank at the tree opposite the hospital reception clutching her purse. Velu was admitted after a sudden collapse and shooting pains all over. He had lost speech too. luckily for him, she was there at home when he complained of pains all over. She quickly got him to the hospital in an auto with the help of a neighbor. It has been almost a week and the doctors were still at a loss as to his condition. He felt numb all over and could hardly utter a word.
She filled in the forms, paid the initial payments for tests or medicines. Something inside her kept her away from the bed on which he lay. She looked a miserable one with thoughts far away. She moved more like a zombie.
The hospital staff spoke in hushed tones. Was he to be bedridden for life? Who will look after him? This lady who comes here sits clutching her purse so tightly as if it is her money and not his life that is at stake. She wouldn’t respond to calls for a bedpan or call for the ayah to make him comfortable. Sometimes she would come into the room look at his face ….it would look like a worried look. Sometimes place a palm on his face and leave the room just as she came with a tear. Nobody else visited the hospital no relatives no friends. Tears rolled down his eyes too. the look sometimes pleading, sometimes lost or forlorn.
Nights were the worst as she went home and left him to fend for himself. The hospital staff wondered and asked him .why cant she stay with you here in this room in the night at least it will be a moral support to you? More tears rolled by his cheeks. How was he to tell them that she is his brother’s wife and that his wife was at home craning her sweet head on some serials on the TV?

Dear Sathya,
Marvelous the short story was, no amount of adjectives will be praise enough for your writing. I just could not believe that it was the brother's wife who was caring for Velu and not his wife.
Should we curse the bane of TV soaps on the public today where they get s addicted and involved that they don't know what is happening around them or just call his wife heartless?? It is entertainment and should end there.

all frustrations seems to have come through this, poor velu he has to live for whom and what none know his future..how long can the brother's wife run behind is welfare out of guilt, that no one there to take care of him...well depicted the situation...sunkan

Wow Sathya
Beautiful story. Is his wife so heartless or is she crazy?? to leave her helpless DH in the hospital and the brother's wife taking care of her.
You have put in 2 types of woman in today's life one that is so caring and loving and the other is heartless only TV is her world and everything else has no importance to her.

SATYA,

Beautiful story. No pun intended, but if it were given as a storyline to a serial maker, he would make it a great mega serial for a period of 2/3 years.

Seriously i think touching and beautiful is the best way i can describe, how easily you have brought the feeling of the SIL and the BIL in a few lines....

hello aruna

ya as you say there are two different types depends on situations and upbringing how they react to situations. no wonder the crygood stations (TV serials) are vying with each other to bring in more cries.
