| How Can I Forget My First Love – Story - Part IV Farhan had hit off well with her; they had become more of friends by now. His brother’s dearth had made Farhan come closer to her. She too enjoyed his company. He was loathed by his staff as he never mixed up with them. He was strict; though he never raved or ranted they were reluctant to loom him with any request or favour. His nature best suited the proverb, “Still waters are deep”. His closeness with her had set tongues wagging in the office. Tony had more to add to the panorama, “Being woman, we can get extra income from the boss for our clothes and accessories. We need not earn for them, what say Subash?” Tony and Subash were good friends. Vanessa warned Manila about Farhan, “He is a flirt, my brother has seen him with different woman every day during last Dandiya Raas at Mahalaxmi. Some call him a womanizer too, his affability towards you ..”, “Common Van, you are crazy, he is affable; he is my boss, so how can I …. I want to complete my training period lucratively then have to undergo my probation and confirmation, I have a long way to go in this office and I am not a fool dear to mess my career for a man, I like his company and that’s it. He reminds me of my college days,” “Manila, he never mixes with any one in the office, how come..” “Van, may be we have a good rapport”. Manila’s eyes would search for Fardeen, it has been two weeks now, and there is no sign of him. Colleagues were happy with the absence of Fardeen “He is so short tempered, keeps bellowing at the top of his voice, now the ambiance is so serene”, said Manohar. Manila grabbed the opportunity, “Does he disappear quite often and bring peace in office!!”, Oops!! This is not what she wanted to say. “Oh yeah! Mostly for four months in a year they take turns”. Her face was pale, it has been two weeks since she has last seen him. She wanted to ask Farhan, but.. Today Manila was in a black saree with sphagetti strap blouse. She knew she is going to capture drooling looks today, it would boost her ego. Every day she wished Fardeen is back from .. wherever… Her friends were teasing her “Aaj tu bijli girane wali hai yaar, Tony tho jhalke rakh ho jayega. Farhan pat gaya lagta hain, Manila, tera train ka safar khatam, ab tu bade bade gaadiyon mein gumegi, apun ko yaad karna balike”, Dilnaaz was very witty she added, “ Arre, kahin aisa na ho, ki Tony Pat jaaye, hindi phillum me nahin dekha hain, nafrat pyaar ka pehla seedi hain”, Manila was happy with all the attention. Latha gave her some sweets to eat, “We will call you in the afternoon, do tell us about the development”. Indeed, everyone praised her looks today. Manila was feeling like a queen. She was eagerly waiting for Farhan, it was 10 past 11, still not reached office today. Tony, was singing loudly, “Every time I see you, Some thing happens to me, like a chain reaction between you and me,” She felt like throttling him, let it passé. Vanessa was very beautiful, but she never dressed up, her clothes sometimes had creases too. Though she lived in a happening place like Bandra, she never caught up with the fashion. Ketal was a bomb, she would dress up very traditionally, typical Gujju behen she was. Lalitha had the plain Jane look. Chitra tries hard to catch up with fashion, but ends up in a mess. The other day she wore a Red Saree, “My Dhadi (she meant daddy, now dhadi means beard in hindi) bought for me”, everyone rolled in to laughter. Poor girl, had to sit quietly the whole day. Farhan came at around 11.30 a.m. He winked at her before entering his room. She liked it. After 15 minutes he called her in, “Yeh, its your birthday today. You look ravishing babes”, “No Farhan, (she had stopped calling him Sir !!)”, “Just tell me how many hearts you broke today, hm, common tell me, you are a real teaser I tell you. Leave them alone yaar. What about the guys here in office? Any dil dene lene ka chakkar”, “That I cannot tell you Farhan, you are my boss and I am still in my training period”, “What that has got to do with affairs of heart babes, it does not understand all this logic, what say”, Farhan’s face can melt any heart, and his soft magical voice, can pull a string to hum “You bring the woman out in me”, Manila gathered herself, “Farhan, I have plenty of documentation to do, let me concentrate”, “Get that here, we will do it together”, “Thanks, Chitra is with me”, She rushed out of the cabin, she had a smile and… God, Vanessa was right, this man can make any woman go zoom… I have to be careful. I have a motto, I have a dream. It was 12. 45 p.m. Oh!! 15 minutes more for lunch. Her stomach had given her signals. Everyday she counts minutes before lunch time. Suddenly she heard few staff saying, “Afternoon Sir”, She wondered who it could be, by the time she turned her head, she heard a husky voice whisper in her ears “Hi, Good Afternoon”, when she turned, her face was about to brush… yeah… Fardeen is back. She had glint in her eyes…….. To be continued……..
