Default Hyderabadi shaadi Trifle Pudding recipe

Nowadays in Hyderabad, my sister told me that a new kind of trifle pudding is being served and which is totally to die for.

It is served in large flat trays, with a thin brick of sponge cake arranged in the center of the tray and a huge block of vanilla ice cream on top. My sister said that she had this dessert in one of her Muslim friends wedding in Hyderabad.
Dry fruits and nuts are spread around in some cream/condensed milk. I do not know the exact recipe, but this is what my sister could make out. Can anyone of the Local hyderabadis who are attending the weddings in Hyderabad nowadays, and have had it, and familiar with the correct recipe, share with me the procedure for it?

I will appreciate it very much.
Thanks in advance.

I really hope that someone will share the correct recipe, and probably a picture of that dessert also.

No, Shahi Tukre is completely different dish.

This one has ice cream, sponge cake, dry fruits and nuts and cream.

Hi Vidu, Shahi Tukre is basically Dabal ka Metta made with bread and sheera (sugar + water) and nuts...

ihsnm, I havn't eaten the the specific trifle pudding from hyderabad cuz I haven't visited in 3 yrs now.. however my mom makes a killer trifle at home.. we are hyderabadi also.. she bakes a plain vanilla cake and makes a thick custard of milk and custard powder. then she layers the cake with custard plus fresh fruits and dried fruits.... you can serve it with ice cream or whipped cream.... serve it chilled.. and enjoy

hi ihsmn,

im also form hyd and have eaten a lot of this dessert in many weddings.

the dessert u have mentioned is trifle pudding -only difference is that in weddings
they make more grand like adding sugar crystals (caramel ones)and lots of nuts.

here how u can make this dessert

in a flat tray put large chunks of vanilla cake( i usually bake it-betty crocker or philsburry) then make strawberry or raspberry jello according to instruction on the packet, when still warm pour over cake -cool for sumtime, then prepare custard -pour this also, then put lots of fresh fruits-specially chikoo and mango and lots of nuts-soaked and then cut into small pieces- and sugar caramel crystals and then load it with icecream. i think they also pour some rose syrup on the cake.

hope this will be helpful to u

one more thing is that cooking in home and cooking by chefs is very different-even the biryani we make at home and by them at weddings is very different.

Also, I heard a lot about the 'Red Dry Chicken Curry' served at Hyderabadi weddings. It has just a little bit of red colored sticky gravy that clings to the chicken with bone.

Can anyone share with me the recipe for it?

Thanks.
