Default Cooking Tips!!!

Hi Ladies!

As we all know that Very littlt-little tips are important for our Kitchen. Some of them are as follows-

  • A stale loaf of bread can be considerably freshened by dipping it in milk or water (or a mixture of the two) for about a minute. Then heat in the oven for about fifteen minutes.
  • A delicious alternative to whipped cream is a mashed banana added to the white of an egg. Beat it stiff to look like whipped cream.
  • Instead of tamarind, you can use slices of raw mango in meat and fish curries or dal.

Kranthi,
Here are my tips:

1.Don't cut apples pieces too thin when you are using fresh
apples. Larger chunks will hold together and have more apple flavor.
2.If Bread loaves and rolls that are heavy and soggy in the middle then
When everything else has been done right, maybe the unit weight is
too heavy. Try making the pieces smaller and let them rise longer.
3.Get into the habit of measuring the oil you use while you cook,
rather than just pouring it out of the bottle. It will be much
easier to moderate the amount you use.
4.Use non-stick cookware so that you don't have to use as much,
if any, fat. When sauteing, use a small amount of chicken broth
or wine instead of butter or oil.
5.Store cheese in your refrigerator, which approximates the
temperature of aging rooms. Keep it wrapped tightly in plastic,
away from air. Air helps mold grow on cheese. If you get a little
mold on the outside, just cut it off. The English say if mold
won't eat your cheddar it can't taste very good.

Hi everyone,

How to keep the vegetables fresh? some of tips here..Let me know from others too:

1.To Keep Lemons Fresh:

To keep the lemons fresh for longtime apply some edible oil over it before keeping it in the refrigerator

2.To store green chillies for a longer time:

keep green chillies in a transparent cover or in a ziploc and place it in the freezer. It will not be spoiled.

3.how to store carrots fresh for long time:

carrots can be kept fresh for long time in fridge by removing head and tail part of the carrot .

4.preserve ladys fingeres

To preserve ladys fingrers remove the tail of the ladysfingeres n u can store for many days they remain fresh for a long time.

5.Preserve green chilli:

Remove the stick of the green chilli and mix a few drop of mustard oil. It will remain longer times than normal preservation.

6.ginger fresh for months:

keep the ginger in freezer and just scrap the skin and grate it like a cheese.

7.Fresh coriander leaves for a long time:

Cut the bottom of the coriander bunch and place it in a collander and wash it in runing water. Make sure that there is no sand. Let the water drain compeletely (it takes 15-20mins).
now place a paper towel at the base of the box/zip lock bag first and then the coriander leaves. Place another paper towel on top. The coriander leaves generally wilt because of the water.
So, by placing paper towel above and below the coriander leaves.. the paper absorbs the excess water and therefore the leaves remain fresh longer.

In case you do not have a fridge (as in my case)

To keep leafy vegetables like methi,palak,spinach...fresh for a longer period
Remove the leaves from the stem. Do not wash the leaves. Put the leaves in a plastic cover and wrap. Keep aside in a cool place to avoid direct sunlight

To keep coriander leaves fresh

Either use the above method OR
Keep the coriander leaves along with its roots. Place the roots into a glass of water .Keep changing the water frequently
