Default My poem - a tribute to all mothers

FULFILLED PROMISE OF HEAVEN<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

A treasured time of nine months,<o:p></o:p>

an idyllic bonding intimacy<o:p></o:p>

in the cushioned bowery tranquility<o:p></o:p>

I was glued to you, like a pearl in an oyster.<o:p></o:p>

I was filled with greenness of life<o:p></o:p>
by your nourishing red blood<o:p></o:p>

I heard the music of life,<o:p></o:p>

in the sacred silence of your womb….<o:p></o:p>

The meeting place of our souls is intact<o:p></o:p>

though the physical cord is cut.<o:p></o:p>

Every imprint of mine,<o:p></o:p>
was pressed into your heart<o:p></o:p>

the earth to which my feet are still bound,<o:p></o:p>

though I stepped out in a hypnotic rhythm of life<o:p></o:p>

when my time was on the move..<o:p></o:p>

to lead a life of my own..!!<o:p></o:p>

In my breath <o:p></o:p>
In my joy<o:p></o:p>

In my courage<o:p></o:p>

In my consciousness<o:p></o:p>

In my goodness,<o:p></o:p>

In my belief<o:p></o:p>

In my freedom<o:p></o:p>

You drape me, cocoon me, surround me<o:p></o:p>

You stand fixed,<o:p></o:p>

like your smiling image,<o:p></o:p>

in my infant gaze<o:p></o:p>

when earth looked small<o:p></o:p>

and our love loomed large.<o:p></o:p>

Mother, for me, you are <o:p></o:p>
a fulfilled promise of Heaven. <o:p></o:p>

<o:p> </o:p>

Default My God! What Words!

Ambika, you almost converted me. Yes I never used to read poetry. But now I am transfixed by your words - especially "Mother, for me, you are <o:p></o:p>
a fulfilled promise of Heaven."
Words that can spring only from a great poet and a truly authentic person! Keep up the good work.

Post Rekindled thoughts of my Mom!

Ambika,

My Mom is no more. But I always believe that she is with me, taking care of me and as you have very rightly written...

"In my breath <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
In my joy<o:p></o:p>

In my courage<o:p></o:p>
In my consciousness<o:p></o:p>

In my goodness,<o:p></o:p>
In my belief<o:p></o:p>

In my freedom"<o:p></o:p>

she protects me and surrounds me even now!

Thanks for the lovely poem, it rekindled so many thoughts about my Mom.
Yes, Moms are fullfilled promise of heaven, that we get to realise even more when they are not physically closer to us.

Default Thanks Rathi

Hi Rathi,

thanks for liking my poem. Even my mother is no more....passed away four years back at the age of 60, with ovarian cancer. I have written many poems and articles paying tribute to her memory. That way I feel somewhat connected to her....and feel her presence around.
I plan to post them on the site and I am sure you will appreciate them. We have a common pain....

ambika.

Thumbs up Nice Poem

Hi Ambika

I like your poem very much. I knew the pain of, how our Mothers gave birth to us. Bcos I am having one kid. At my delivery time I suffered lot. So I know the feelings.

Now I am in USA. My Mother had got operation two month before. Doctors said, this is very critical stage and we will try our level best. At that time I am unable to go to India also. Bcos we have some money problem. I suffered lot and I don't know how to explain.... I prayed to God... God only helped for me. Now she is ok. I am feeling happy.

Thanks for the nice poem which you wrote about the Mothers.
Sumi

Default Thanks a Lot, Concorde

You have done me a privilege by quoting me verbatim in your reply. I am moved and touched.
Ambika is truly a great poet, a very rare specimen these days, I would even say , endangered species. So let's wait to read more of Ambika's poetry in this great site.
thanks once again, concorde

Default Thanks..

Dear Concorde and dear Varalotti

Its a double treat for me to read your messages. I thank you whole heartedly concorde, for quoting my good friend's words, by which you have reinforced my faith in my poetic abilities. Hope I can match up to Varalotti's loving words...
