Default Ambika's Poem - A Mother's Day Special!

Most Gracious ILites,
The Deccan Herald of 14th May published a poem by our 'one and only' Ambika to commemmorate the Mother's Day. I am posting that poem here dedicating that to the mothers, the world over.

You are my roots

( A poem on Mother’s Day )

You are that beautiful woman

who haunts my poems

You will never grow old

even in my thoughts

as I had seen you die young…

changing my angles of vision

the world is not the same since then.

I continue the ceaseless search

to retrieve your earthly form by a miracle

to feel ‘at home’ again in this world

to feel the warmth of the first heart

I ever trusted fully

to reach for those fingers

which I first clasped tenderly

I wait to be

as gleeful, as loved

as free, as baby-like…

as I was in

your capacious lap

when your love

was the only amulet I wore

When only you

were my protective armour

Death has ended you

but I have not ended

the shadow-boxing

against that dark reality

to prove it wrong

but always in vain..

None can fathom

the depth of this pain

None can see

this un-bodied ache

but,

I have learnt to live with the pride

that you are my heritage,

you are my tradition,

you are my experience,

and mother,

that you are my roots….

Ambika Ananth

Default a painter-poet

That was so eloquent, Ambika. You have painted the words in your poem. What you say is so heart felt and true. Mothers are our roots and however high we go, our roots keep us grounded and safe.

regards
Vidya

Default Beautiful poem

Dear Ambika,

Read your poem in Deccan yesterday & I am so happy to see it here toooo (thanks to our V).
Beautiful poem. Reinforces the fact that Mother is the Greatest Gift from God & even when she's gone, she leaves such a beautiful imprint in our heart & soul that she lives with us always, in our thoughts & deeds.
I liked the phrase - Mother, You are my Roots.. how true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default Lovely!

Dear Ambika,

We are fortunate on IL to be able to read your poem released in DH. The poem is poignant and at once brings out the true essence of Mother. Can be written only by a loving daughter. Enjoyed it and thanks for those lyrical words.

Default dear friends...

Dear loving friends..
At the very outset my sincere thanks to dear Sridhar, who posted his friend's poem with love and pride, because he enjoys to showcase others' talents too with enthusiasm and zeal ...may that beautiful spirit exist always in this site...
And friends, accept my apologies for my delayed response.

I was away at Hyd and just returned but I am in real terribly sad mood now because after I left, that very day, in a B'day party at HYD, gas baloons burst itseems and my sister's husband and her little son of four had bad burn injuries. My darling nephew had to be operated upon for removal of burnt skin on his forearms and face....he is out of intensive trauma unit now, but he being so tender and small is in pain and distress...my brother-in-law is going thru physical and mental pain, seeing his son too suffer as much as himself..
My sister, an ardent devotee of Devi has taken this with great courage and says, with immense grace Devi avoided something more grave and disastrous...
I take pride in my siblings' mental stature and equanimity..
I have shared this with all of you dear friends, because I know all of you will send your positive and loving thoughts and vibrations to my sister's family and that will bring in the real 'healing' process...
thanks and regards
ambika

Dear Ambika,

The Most Gracious ILites, a little more than 2000 hands and a thousand plus loving hearts, join me in praying for a speedy, complete recovery of your nephew and brother in law.

Hats off to your sister who has taken the event in her stride and is almost thanking Devi for saving her near and dear from a greater peril.

With this kind of prayer from the ILites Devi is sure to shower her blessings on the injured and grant them a life filled with greater health and happiness.

We are all here for you.
regards,
sridhar
