Default What's happening in Tamilnadu" Today's unofficial Bandh"

My dear Friends,

Yesterday's Supreme court order on Bandh call from DMK led allies in Tamilnadu with a interim stay against such Bandh's & the responses from Government of Tamilnadu & the ruling party's actions are very much disturbing....

Bar's run by Governments departments are opened & Buses of transport corporations are not functioning....Ooophs...

Why did the Government machinery stand still & normal life in Tamilnadu disturbed due to closure of educational institutions, shops & establishments, Transport departments failures to run public transports, Eateries & Hotels shutting their doors, when the central Governments offices, Banks and State Government controlled Wine shops alone functioning today.....

Is it an unofficial Bandh call or Strike or Harthal & who has ordered or influenced is a mystery.
The fear syndrome among people to open up shops and establishments due to back lash from Ruling party or their actual participations to vent out their willingness to Sethu Samudram Projects early compleations is yet another mystery.

The stay in hunger fast by DMK led alliance in all major towns and panchayats has virtually put the government machinery stand still...

Is it not a mockery of hoodwinking the Supreme court order or Contempt of Court, only history will reveal in time.

Now the latest news from Supreme court is as reported in rediffnews columns as under:

TN bandh: Supreme Court pans govt for flouting order

October 01, 2007 11:07 IST

The Supreme Court on Monday pulled up the Tamil Nadu government for failing to comply with its order on a bandh call given by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

The apex court warned the Tamil Nadu government of initiating contempt of court proceedings and said, if necessary, it will not hesitate to summon the chief secretary and the chief minister.

"Is this the government? Is this the Tamil Nadu government?

Is it the DMK government, a strong ally of the United Progressive Alliance government?

If this is the attitude of the DMK government, the UPA government should not feel shy of dismissing it and impose President's Rule," the court observed.

Though the Supreme Court had stayed the Tamil Nadu bandh called for Monday by the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and its allies on the Ram Sethu Project, buses in most parts of the state were off the roads and shops in main thoroughfares remained closed.

Reports said it was a 'virtual bandh' in the state, with the Southern Railways operating only skeletal services.

However, autos and taxis were seen plying in the city.

The situations are the same in all over Tamilnadu.

Our anguish is why should common man in the state has to suffer.

Who is going to compensate the losses of production & economical losses of the Industry & trade....

We are not against Sethu Samudram Project and at the same time why not make it viable with some innovative team work by professionals without disturbing environmental disturbances and fisherman folks livelyhood losses.

Let some one wake up and rescue the state and the country.

Dear Subbu,

I just came across a news item in ibnlive.com about the SC's reaction to the Tamilnadu Unofficial Bandh...
"SC warns of President's Rule for MK's defiance" - The apex court has asked the Centre what prompts it to shy away from imposing President's Rule. “If this is the attitude of the DMK, the UPA government should not feel shy of dismissing it and imposing President's Rule," the Court said in a statement.

Chennai seems to be most affected with No MTC buses and people finding it difficult to get autos also. Most of the educational institutions are closed. The common man is suffering.

Who is against the Sethu Smaudram Project? Also no one is against Lord Rama also. It is the Governments who have to find a solution without hurting anyone's feelings. What is the use in observing fasts or calling for a bandh? People get affected by all this... That too common man...who cannot afford to have their own vehicle... The truth is a common man is not much interested in any of these issues... They are very busy with earning food for a day...that is the condition of many people in India. Only the Political Parties are interested in making all these issues politicised...for their own interests...

Yes our dear Manjumnair,
The latest developments are that our CM MK has left the fast venue and start attending work at cabinet Secretariat.
His cabinet ministers too left the fast venue.
The Government chief secretary has ordered transport department to run its public transport buses to effect smooth transportations..
This shows that no one is above law & timely interventions by judiciary can bring in solace to common citizens.
Let Supreme court and all courts too clear all pending cases to make the benefits of judiciary in time for the public.
