Default Diwali preparations

As Diwali is nearing and I dint see any threads dedicated to it, I though it would be nice where everyone can share their recipes for all the snacks, sweets, etc that you make for diwali...

Please share your recipes here.

I have a hidden agenda to start this thread - my mom is off this diwali to Bangalore, so it is all me this time.. I have never indulged into making anything during diwali earlier - this is my time to surprise my parents.!!!!Please help me with your ideas and recipes. I am really looking forward to it

Default Shankarpali/Tukdi/Dimond cuts (Salty)

I will start contributing with what I tried out this weekend.. I thought it would be the simplest to start with

Ingrediants :
100gms maida
1 tbsp. ajwain
salt - to taste
chilli powder - to taste
oil (2 tbsp hot oil + to fry)
water

Method :
1. Add maida, ajwain, salt, chilli powder and pour tbsp. hot oil into it and knead well using little amount of water until soft
2. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts and take each part and roll them into shape of chapathi (keep them thicker than the normal chapathis)
3. Use a knife (or u get a cutter specially designed for it) and cut the rolled chapathis into parallelograms
4. Deep fry at low flame till golden brown
5. Drain excess oil and keep in air tigh container

I tried it for the first time, but they came out pretty good.. I am looking forward to having more variation to this version and all the new items..

Gayathri,

You should have searched before you posted on Diwali preparations here . Don't you see IL already geared up for the festive mood !!! There is so much activity happening in the Ask Chitvish forum and the Virtual Feast Thread!

For a sample, here is Ami's Mysurpa, Priya's Kaju Kathli,Suba's Cashew Mysrorepak and Butter Badushas,Latha's Garlic Ottu Pakoda and Priya Amarnath's Badusha and Cornflakes mixture

Also make sure you dont miss the action on Virtual Feast

Ask Chitvish has a special thread on Step by Step instructions for miscellaneous dishes, and here is the link. Also have a look at Krishnamma's Kitchen as it is all geared to welcome the Festival of Lights!

Wish you a very Happy Diwali!

Love

Arch!

Friends, Please do not copy recipes from the net & post here! Google search reveals them all & shows you in poor light. Those posts are deleted.
Love,
Chithra.
