Modak can be made of Rice flour( steamed ) and of Maida ( fried ).Maida ones are easy to make ..for which recipe is given below.Hope everyone finds this article helpful and gets to relish on Modak this Ganesh Chaturthi. Ingredients: 1 cup maida Oil for deep frying For Stuffing: 3/4 cup shredded coconut 1/2 cup jaggery Pinch of cardamom powder Method : Heat 2 tbl spns of oil and add it to maida. Mix it very well. Add little salt and knead a stiff dough with water. Keep it aside for around 1/2 an hour. Heat jaggery and coconut together till jaggery melts and forms a uniform mixture with coconut. Remove from heat and add cardamom powder. Now take small balls of the dough, roll it into thin puris so as make a modakof lemon size. The puri should not be very thick or thin. Keep a round ball of stuffing on the puri and cover with the dough to give modak shape.Palce the puri in ur palm and close all ends of puri with other hand to form a tapered shape. Now,twist this cone a little to get a perfect shape.Heat oil and deep fry the modak until golden brown.
