It may be tiny, but it’s mighty: The flax seed carries one of the biggest nutrient payloads on the planet. And while it’s not technically a grain, it has a similar vitamin and mineral profile to grains, while the amount of fiber, antioxidants, and Omega-3 fatty acids in flax leaves grains in the dust. Additionally, flax seed is very low in carbohydrates, making it ideal for people who limit their intake of starches and sugars. And its combination of healthy fat and high fiber content make it a great food for weight loss and maintenance -- many dieters have found that flax seed has been a key to keeping them feeling satisfied

    Hi there !

Basically flaxseed can be taken daily one teaspoon in half cup warm water. It becomes like a paste. Flaxseed look like daliya or cracked wheat. You can also sprinkle it on cornflakes with milk, or sprinkle on a sandwich.. They are almost tasteless. Available in GNC. In case u don't want that then there are flax seed tablets also available.. U can try those..
These are the names of flax seed in various languages...
Sanskrit: Alasi, neem pushpi, Kshuma, Pichhala, Atasi
    Hindi: Alasi, tisi
    Gujarati: Alasi
    Marathi: Javasu
    Bengali: Marshina
    Telugu: Bittu, alasi, atasi
    Arabian: Kattan
    French: Jagira, tukhme kattan
    Marwadi: Alasi

    Hope this helps..:)

    Hi ladies ,

i heard from a naturopathist , that if flaxseed/powder gets heated it looses its omega - 3 fatty acid , so we have to add it in the final stage only [like in smoothies , cornflakes ] to get the fuller benefits .

so we cannot add it to the chappati flour , idly batter , or sambar powder as they are exposed to a high heat which destroys the omega. so make the right use of it.
