I make urad daal pooranam and make kozhakkattai (modhak) quite often.
Left over pooranam will be used for paruppu usili or in plain sevai.

Hi,
My mom used to make Adadia Pak (Gujarati Sweet) in winter.
This is good for health.
We also make fry dal using urad every Saturaday.

Hi,
Usually while making idly/dosa batter, we put 4:1 rice and urad. You can use more urad by changing ratio as 3:1.
I make a sweet by steaming urad dhall and coconut milk.
Take one cup of urad dhall soak it for 1/2 hour. Grind it in blender as a thick paste with out adding much water. Make it as balls and stem it in idly pot.
Take thick milk out of coconut add sugar and elachi to the cocnut milk and boil the steamed urad balls in the coconut milk until the urad balls absord the coconut milk taste.

Hi sanmithra,
Read this recipe long back in a news paper, but was afraid to take risk with the consistency of urad dhal paste...
When time permits could you please add a picture of it..nothing urgent just a request..
Coz if i add less water , the balls might turn out hard
If water is more, it won't shape up, so confused with the proportion and consistency
