Yiva,
You can use it like that.once in a while.,.no problem..even I do like that if the leftover rice is in large quantities..
but make it a point not to repeat it daily...

Yiva,

There is no harm in using left over rice. The way you are reheating after sprinkling some water is correct, while doing so, please cover it with a wet paper towel. That way it regains it's freshness and does not dry out.

Better still, you can also mix it with curd & a lit bit of salt to make curd rice ,before storing it in the refrigerator. Next day, you can season it with mustard, curry leaves, hing, ginger pieces and garnish with coriander leaves !!

Cheers
Krithika

yiva

i second the opinions posted by srinekatan n krithika here.once in awhile using left over rice is gd ,but this shldnt b repeated daily as acc to ayurveda ,it is said to use the fresh cooked foods for gd health, but i think once in a while it does no harm.

but care shld b taken to preserve it for next days use.

Hi Yiva,
There is nothing seriously wrong in eating yesterday's food. But i prefer this only for curd rice..and not for other(sambar,rasam)..though the texture is good after MWing..i feel stiff rice.
Now-a-days im cooking the exact amount to avoid this problem.

Swami Vivekananda has once mentioned that, food once cooked, should be consumed within 8 hrs. after which it loses its nutritional and spiritual value. While it is tricky and difficult for a housewife to cook, without some leftovers, it is still better to avoid eating them often.
