In winter time it's easier to get a cold, specially here in Europe when it gets very cold.

What do you eat to prevent getting a cold ? I used to eat lot of orange (c-vitamin). It's only good to eat it as premeasure , it doesn't help if you already got a cold.

    Hi Noha,

They say you are what you eat and it is definitely true that certain foods help to boost immunity. Eat foods containing Phytochemicals, the natural chemicals in them give the vitamins in food a supercharged boost. Eat dark green, red, and yellow vegetables and fruits.

@vani098, thank you! We make ginger tea and turmeric milk, but I had not heard about pepper milk before. I looked up the recipe and it sounds tempting.

I wonder if it's okay to add sugar?

A few slices of raw ginger root in some boiling water may help soothe a cough or a sore throat, but it will also ward off the feelings of nausea that so often accompany influenza. Honey also has a variety of antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Adding a garlic supplement to your diet might not only reduce the severity of cold symptoms, it may also keep you from getting sick in the first place.

Boil one cup of milk with turmeric, pepper and honey (instead of sugar).

    Hello Noha,

These are a few tips which can help prevent cold and would be a perfect diet.
    1. Eat lots of leafy and non-leafy vegetables, legumes, and fruits. Everyone should strive to consume dark, leafy greens every single day.
    2. Avoid dairy foods, particularly if you or your child has chronic congestion, frequent sinus problems, and or recurring ear infections. Trial a 1-month strict experiment.
    3. Make sleep a priority. Reports suggest people with less than seven hours of sleep were three times as likely to get a cold as those with eight hours or more.
    4. Avoid stress. This is a hard one! There are a lot of techniques for stress reduction, but none that I’m aware of have been specifically evaluated for avoiding viruses.
I hope this helps everyone looking for a diet for cold.

    Thanks
    Wasim
