cholestrol levels- controlling it

    Cholestrol is a waxy steroid of fat that is produced in the liver or intestines. Although cholesterol is important and necessary for mammals, high levels of cholesterol in the blood can damage arteries and are potentially linked to diseases such as those associated with the cardiovascular system (heart disease).<sup id="cite_ref-High_cholesterol_levels_3-0" class="reference" style="line-height: 1em; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; "></sup> In recent years people have to combat cholestrol levels in their bodies on account of their life styles. Even youngsters are afflicted by it. Drugs are available in the market to control it. Apart from the drugs we have to try and control it by other means.

    We must try to avoid oily foods like pakoras, paranthas, wafers etc. Exercise is also a must. Walking, cycling and Yoga are beneficial. The following ingredients which are easily available will be beneficial.


    1.Carrots
    2 to 3 raw carrots daily for several days

    2.Durva(tamil name-Arugampul, hindi name-doob
    Make a paste of 3 tbsp grass,4 black peppercorns and a little cumin. take twice a day along with buttermilk or co**** water

    3.coriander
    Regular intake of coraiander decoction made by boiling 2 tsp dry seed powder in
    i teacup water.(mild and sugar can be added to enhance taste. This could be a welcome substitute for coffee or tea). This also acts as diuretic as kidneys are stimulated.

    4.onion
    Finely dice an onion and mix it with buttermilk and a pinch of pepper powder and drink it

    5.Garlic
    Regular intake of garlic also helps.
    Excepting Druva all ingredients are available in our kitchen cabinet. We can make maximum use of them and get rid of several ailments.

    With my FIL (87 years old) cholestrol reduced from danger zone to normal after I put him on a healthy Indian diet within two-three months!!!

    I used a lot of vegetables, sprouts, and rice bran oil !!!
