Talking naming Ceremony gift

Hi all wonderful ladies,

I got a email today from a white friend of mine, asking me that her mom was invited to a naming ceremony of a Indian co-worker's child I guess. She didn't specify that, but I'm assuming it is of a baby. Anyways she wanted to know if her mom should take a gift. She asked me because I'm Indian, but I don't know anything about naming ceremonies.. So please if somebody could help her that would be awesome...

cheers..

[ just my 2 cents ] of course she can and in general we give kitchenware useful for the kid or the
mother ! could be a silver / steel cup . one might give some money / vouchers in a sealed cover .
