Default North Indian Culture:Definitions

Hi Ladies,

I appreciate if we will discuss some of the common definitions of North Indian Culture which are widely used.So Lets start from our first definition-

Pooja (पूजा)- A Pooja is worship to the Deities of the Hindu Religion in the form of prayer, offerings and sacrifices.
These include Diwali (दिवाली) pooja, Durga(दुर्गा) Pooja, Pongal (पोण्गल)and Lakshmi (लक्ष्मी)Pooja and other religious occasions. Puja or Pooja is also a very popular Hindu female first name.

Thanks,
Kranti

I want to tell about bhajan-

A Bhajan (भजन) or kirtan(किर्तन) is a Hindu devotional song, often of ancient origin. Great importance is attributed to the singing of bhajans with Bhakti (भक्ति), i.e. loving devotion.

Hi all ,

Do You know about bindi?

Bindi - the “dot” on the forehead. Women and men wear them, and babies and children. They’re decorative and also used in religious ceremonies. Most are stickers. There’s also this cool stuff in a bottle you can paint on and it dries like a powder. They can be simple dots, or jeweled designs to match your outfit.

bindi is a version of TILAK applied by ladies
TILAK- this is applied in the centre of the forehead , for sumangal,to keep the head cool, for concentration.

Hi all,

Its a good idea.by doing this we can know about our culture

Stotras

Stotras are Hindu prayers that praise aspects of God, such as Devi, Siva, or Vishnu. Stotras, according to Swami Tapasyananda, are invariably uttered aloud and consist of chanting verses conveying the glory and attributes of God. The three most famous and sacred stotras in Hinduism are Lalitha Sahasranama, Shri Rudram Chamakam, and Vishnu Sahasranama.
