need info on h1 extension - urgent

hi
am nearing end of my 3rd yr in h1.,..
my extension is still pending...but i have to leave US urgently,for a two week trip..
please let me know what will happen to my extension........

If you leave the country while your extension is pending, then your extension of stay will be abandoned i.e., you will get the H1 extension approval without I-94. you need to get a new stamp to enter US if your current one has expired.

Adding to Aswini's response,
You applied for extension
You left USA
Your H1 Extension was approved(I-797), sent to your company(without the I-94) on it
Your company sends the I-797 to you abroad
You will go to the local consulate and get your extended H1 stamped
You will enter USA with the new extension approval(I-797) and stamping.
