Default Experience Letters for GC Filing

Hi Ladies,

I was getting to know details on applying for GC . I hear that one need to have Detailed experience letter from all your previous employers to apply GC. The letter we already have is very precise so was wondering how to get an elaborate Exp. Letter (as required for GC filing) from the prev. employers (Indian companies)? Now that, you are no longer with the prev. employers, will they care to give such detailed exp. letters? Some say they are obliged to give, but I am confused.

Can any one throw some light on that?

Thanks..

I think it depends on what kind of relation you have with your previous employer. If you really know your manager well, he will be able to help and he will be the best person to give the letter since he is the one who knew what job duties and responsibilities you had. Whatever it is try to start contacting your manager to get the ball rolling.
Good luck!

Hi,
I just came across this thread and thought I will write what we did for our green card process. My husband also had a very precise letter of experience from one of his employers in India. He submitted that letter and along with that he also submitted an affidavit from one of his colleagues who also worked with him in the same company.

The affidavit letter was in the colleagues company letter head and it said that he was also working in the same office with my husband in the period specified and he knows him very well and these are the duties he performed while he was working there. He wrote a detailed list of all the duties performed by my husband and last of all put his name, current designation and contact number.
It went through without any problem. Usually they ask for experience letters in the second stage of green card process. Hope this helps you.
