| Hi all I guess most of us would have faced this when we tried to apply VISA for our parents or in-laws. Though there are lot of websites which help in identifying the required documents, through my personal experiences I would like to post this required documents : You should be ready with the following documents : (to apply for ur in-laws & if ur husband is going to be the sposor) 1. Your husband's Birth Certificate (to prove that ur in-laws are the parents) 2. D-156 (you can fill this online in the website while fixing the VISA interview appointment - https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/Home.aspx ) 3. D-157 (you can fill this online in the website while fixing the VISA interview appointment - https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/Home.aspx ) 4. VISA Application fee receipt from HDFC Bank (will discuss this - Rs.5240/-) 5. VFS's service charge receipt from HDFC Bank (will discuss this - Rs.322/-) 6. VISA Interview appointment letter 7. Photocopies of first page, address page and last page of your in-laws' passport 8. Affidavit (showing - you will return to the home country after the temporary in ths USA. Thus your stay is temporary in US) 9. Your in-laws' last 6 months' Bank statement (Joint account statement) 10. Covering letter 11. Any Family photograhs.... The above documents have to be prepared by your in-laws.... Apart from the above documents, the sponson i.e. ur husband has to send the following documents which you have to carry along with the above : 1. I-134 with affidavit 2. Employment Letter 3. Letter from your husband's Bank 4. Your husband's bank statement for the past 6 months 5. Letter from your husband to US consulate 6. Letter of Invitation from your husband to your in-laws to visit USA 7. Last 4 months Salary slip of your husband 8. H1 Visa approval notice (I-797 Notice of action) 9. Income tax returns (returns filed here in USA) 10. Photocopy of all the pages of your husband's passport including the blank pages (totally 36 pages) To be on safer side pl take a xerox of all the above said documents. Hope this is useful.... Note - Though the consulate wont ask you for all these above documents, to be on a safer side its better to have these on your hand.
