First of all you dont need a sponsor for visa .you would be graudated to a better position with EAD.You can change employers as many times you want.

Default Processing timeframe for EAD

Hi

Looking for updates from people who have obtained their EAD's. How long does it take for EAD's to arrive with the California service center?
Im on L2 visa and has been 2 months since I applied for my EAD. Except for my receipt(that too with my forst name as 'no name given' which I corrected by calling them), havent really heard from them.

Appreciate replies from people who have got theirs with this service center.

I was on L2 too when I came to California in Dec 2004.I applied for EAD in Jan 2005 and got it around March or April 2005.Then the GC came within 3-4 mnths of applying for same.

(1) It all depends on lot of stuff

(2) What was the status of your hubbys GC then? What was his priority date?

(3) GC processing happens as per the priority date. you might have applied in 2005 for EAD.. but your hubbys priority date might have been long back(I mean years), due to be processed just in time you got married and applied.

Nandhu

That was not the case here.He too applied only in 2005 and got it within 3-4 mnths. He came to the U.S only in Aug-2004,never before that.Infact, atleast 2 other people I know in his firm got the same way-the same timeframe.I think it has to do with the position he holds in the firm.

Sunitha,

Again, thats possible. but only in this way.

There might be some labor with the current priority date, where the employee would have gone from them. Its always possible (any many companies do that) to use their labor to move forward for the other employee.

If you check out desi sites, you can see lots of Ads for this labor sale as well ;) $5000 and u would get GC in a jiffy...

Its completely impossible for a person to apply in 2005 fresh and get it in the same year.. that too after sep 11 and messup with the department

Hope this helps.

Hi All,

I am on an L2 visa. Just have a few queries about EAD, hope someone can help -
1) Do I need only my passport or both the passport & marriage cert for applying for EAD
2) Do I need to have an SSN b4 I apply for an EAD
3) Till the time my EAD arrives, does the dept give U a temp no. or something so that I can still look for a job without SSN.
4) How much does the whole process of getting an EAD cost?
