| | Hameoglobin count - little low during 8 month pregnancy
Hi all,
My wife is on iron tablet supplement, and is now 8 months pregnant. Her recent results for hemoglobin count was: 11.7 g%, where as the normal reference range is 12-16 g%.
Is this a cause for concern? Would there be a impact on her health or the baby's health?
Regards
Shankar

No problem at all. Quite normal is what my doc said and I had 11.2. If you are still concerned, maybe your wife can have some dates everyday. My Hb was 9.5 at 6 months and no supplement helped other than dates. You can try it if you want.

Mine was just 10.1 till my delivery.... So I dont think it is a problem.. however, taking dates, jaggery, greens will really help...

No worries..Each lab have different reference value..
Below 10 is not an advisable count..
So cool....
Ask her intake 3-4 dates per day & have greens -especially drumstick and their leaves (well cooked and well cleaned) rather than depending on iron tablets

Hi Shankar,
11.7 is a good count. Mine was 11.5 and managed well during delivery.
I second cindhuja on the dates. Also chikkoos, fengrueek leaves and spinach is good for increasing haemoglobin. Pomegranate juice is very good for increasing haemoglobin but not advisable for the winter.
Even if the same level is maintained too, she will able to manage well.

As Lynette said..Pomegranate is the best source for purifying blood and improving the HG count..Ask her to consume as fruit rather than juice..
Likewise if she eats N.Veg..then well and good..ask her eat sea foods(of course after consulting the gynec) such as Chicken liver, Shrimp and Egg
broccoli is also the best source of Vitamin
