Default Re: Is Swine Flu vaccine safe when Pregnant

Hi Padma,

Is it so? First time swine flu shot? Iam wondering..
But when I asked my GYN she requested me to take both(normal flu & swine flue). Infact in her office everywhere poster is pasted saying - Preg ladies pls take shots after 1st trimester.

When I go to doctor I will double check and come.

Talking Re: Is Swine Flu vaccine safe when Pregnant

I think the necessity of this swine flu shot is differently handled in US, Germany, India and in other countries.

Looks like, its kind of necessary in US - may be there are more severe cases of swine flu in US and it has spread more.

Tomorrow, I have my appointment with my Gyne, I would ask her about both the shots... and then I would let you know what information she had given me...

Cheers,
Priya

P.S.
Well, I am sure, she would say it's not required.... as it's her standard answer Whenever I ask her for such thinks like supplements of Calcium, Iron..... or any other stuff, she always says it's not required.... So its her standard answer LOL

Hi all...

I am in my 40th week...
As suggested ... I had my Seasonal flu shot last month and had H1N1 flu shot from my Gyn. this week. I think... there is nothing to worry about having the shots.

Wishes....

Hi anitha,
sorry, i am not sure. My doc did not say it is introduced first time. I have read so many reviews and research about swine flu, in that they have said that no records that it was tested on pregnant woman. But in every site mentioned that it was safe for pregnant woman, even my doc recommended it.

I don't know but I am not inclined towards taking it. I have never taken flu vaccines and don't know how my body will react. I am not inclined to testing it now, with my child in me. Especially not something that was rolled out so quickly.

Hi All,

On Friday, I had my appointment with my Gyno. I asked her if it's safe to take "Influenzia vaccination" - normal flue vaccination and "H1N1 vaccination". She said "yes, it's safe and I should take this".

But I am quite confused whether I should take this or not? She has not asked herself... i mean when i asked her, she said yes I can take this shots. But she didn"t ask me from her side that I should go and take it...

I am now really confused... girls please tell me what r u doing?

Cheers,
Priya

Dear Ladies,

Today my DH's cousin came to visit us and we were discussing about H1N1 virus. She told me not to take becoz it contains lot of mercury and it may harm the baby like.

My GYN gave green signal to take that shot but am planning to check with her once a again. After hearing this mercury stuff am scared to go for it.

Any idea/suggestions?

Smile Re: Is Swine Flu vaccine safe when Pregnant

I personally think its a Privilege that we ladies are given first preference for the shots and are easily avaliable to us , we should take advantage of it ...

I see in the news every day that lods and lods of ppl are waiting for they turn to get a shot and because of of demand and no stock of the medicine many common ppl are not able to get this shot.... so plz stop thinking and start acting.

Every medicine including a small head ache tablet also has many side effects that does not stop us fr having it...

So better follow your doc's advice and not your frnds and family, as they would not be giving it in first plc if it was unsafe......... it only makes sense.

Hi priya,

I am also in same state of confusion. Even my doc told me to take when i asked her about it. she did not raise that. She compared it with seasonal flushot and swine flushot are made from the same company and same composition , as seasonal flushot is safe for pregnant women from million years, she also said that normal flushot have traces of mercury which doesnot harm. But iam in state of confusion they r expecting positive results but not sure. So i skiped taking shot as for now.
