Default Crying and Breathing heavy

Hi ILs,

this is personnel and worrying me to death. i cannot concentrate much on other stuff..all i am thinking about is my baby.

I had an argument with my husband on Friday night and he went off to sleep. i was so mad and emotional that i cried very loud and heavy in the bathroom for almost like 10-15 mins. i felt i was breathing heavy and deep. you know just like kids do after they have cried a lot and are trying to catch up on their breath and have something like hiccups. well i felt a little short of breath and was taking deep inhales, could this have hurt the baby ??

I had seen the heartbeat at 8 weeks at my last visit. After this Friday incident i have been getting weird dreams..i go for my next visit on beginning of 13th week and there is no heartbeat present.

I have read online that even if you see the heartbeat at 8-9 weeks it can be missing in the next few weeks and cause miscarriage. I am very scared and don't want anything happening wrong to the baby. But then i am thinking so negative.

Please share your opinions, maybe that will help lighten my thoughts.

Thanks,
Shweta

Hi Shwetha,
This is just pregnancy hormones talking! I dont think there are many mothers here who have not felt the same way a dozen times during pregnancy - we all get terrified that something bad will happen to our babies - its a normal feeling. You cant do any harm to the baby just by crying hard or breathing heavily. So cheer up - your baby will do just fine. Go out/shop/treat yourself to a nice snack and relax

Vanathi.

hi momtobe,

These are just pregnancy harmones, dont worry. Breathlessness is one symptom of pregnancy so obviously you will feel like breathing heavily during those times and this has nothing to do with the baby.

Cheer up urselves , don't wait for others to treat u as pregnant women and you can make it special everyday, its in your hands. All ladies will be tired atleast in one phase of pregnancy either in the begining or in 3rd trimester or may be thru out. if u r tired enjoy by relaxing a lot.

Nausea u can't avoid. you have to bear it thinking it will be away in few more days.

Don't feel miserable, happiness is in ur hands. Do whatever makes you feel calm and relaxed.

Oh Shweta - first of all take a deep breath and smile . I know that you are feeling miserable right now but the nausea will go away in 2 - 3 weeks and your energy will come back. Can you take a couple of days off work and rest? Or could your DH and you take a weekend break somewhere? Go buy some maternity clothes - you'll need them soon and its always fun to shop! If all else fails come and vent here - we'll listen. You should also check out some of the other boards here in IL - some of them will definitely make you laugh.

Hello Shweta...As other IL's told you nothing to worry about. Its all harmones taking place. And crying loud and felt shortness of breath doesn't hurt the baby. But don't do it again, because it effects your health. As you are already going through morning sickness and all that harmonal changes. If you ask other pregnant women you will find every little thing makes you so emotional. This is one of the pregnancy symptoms too. Specially first trimester takes a big toll on women. Don't worry most of the pregnant women go through this and men usually get confuse and don't understand how to make women relax. Do not think negtive about the baby. Once you will cross the first trimester you will enjoy it since then just hold on, think positive and stay healthy.

I am 27 weeks now, and after reading your post.. it reminded me the same situation of mine. ( Now it seem so silly and making me laugh). Let me tell you about that, once the same thing happend with me during first trimester after little argument I also cried loud sitting in the next room (may be I was looking for his attention) ....so I thought my husband will come and say sorry, infact he was snoring. Next morning I asked him that last night he didn't stop me crying. You know what he said....honey..I didn't know you were crying last night and if I knew it I would have stoped you. I was like..WHAT...the whole block must have heard me crying and you could not? He hugged me and I felt happy again. Thats how emotions works during pregnancy. And last thing I want to add my baby is doing just fine (touchwood). So moral of the story...men are men.

So now...smile and don't get stress. Take care.

Dear Swetha,

Don't worry sweetie! As others have said, we all go through bouts of crying during pregnancy..:) the baby is quite well insulated and will be safe, don't worry.

About nausea, you can try sipping ginger ale, eating ginger cookies or even munching on dried cranberries. All these worked for me in reducing my nausea.

Take care,
love,
Aarushi

I am so happy to read all the posts.
It really helps to know that i am not the only emotional person here.

BTW, when does the first semester end ? End of 11th week/Start of 12th week OR end of 12th week/Start of 13th week OR end of 13th week/Start of 14th week ??

I hope i feel happy and relaxed soon. Today after a long time i dressed well and feel better at work. I am in my 11th week and really hoping my nausea to end by first trimester and i can start having some fun and enjoy my pregnancy ??

Thanks for all the replies..Vanathi, Amicable, Aarushi and i missed the names..to everyone for their kind words.

.
We were taught that the first 12 weeks are the first trimester in medical college. But I do see many websites/books counting it as the first trimester until the end of 14 weeks. In any case its not as if the symptoms will abruptly stop the day you cross the 1st trimester - somewhere between 12 and 14 weeks is when most women see a difference - its more a gradual decrease in symptoms and a general feeling of wellness. So never fear - the end is in sight!

Vanathi.
